UPDATED: JUL 7, 2013 A light, roasty stout. The perfect breakfast beer. One of the rare beers where the head sort of makes up for the rest of the body.

0.44l nitro can poured in a chalice A: Beautiful deep black color with a huge and dense beige head. Great retention but practically no lacings. Guinness trademark, I would say S: Roasted malts dominates, some notes of coffee and a little bit of grassy hops in the end T: Dry and bitter, basically. Delicious, nevertheless. Roasted malts dominates its taste, but also reminds me some black chocolate and coffee. Also some fresh grassy hops in the end M: Light but creamy body, very low carbonation and ABV D: High. Refreshing beer, after all. The combination of the dry taste, reasonable bitterness and a low ABV makes it a very easy drinking beer. Good black stuff! ;) [ BA Review @ 6/2/2010 ]

Properly poured from nitro keg at cellar temp, this is a smooth lightly roasty stout with a roasted nose and a slightly sour and dry finish. Mouthfeel is creamy, almost milky. Overall lacking in character. The draught cans and bottles are essentially the same: overly creamy bland presentation with a hint of roast. The new commercial description and Guinness’s new mission: to serve this up extra fast and ice cold, well, it speeds the decline of a great beer.

An old favourite and just as I remembered. Opaque deepest brown with lovely creamy head. Roasty aromas, notable hops. Taste is still chocolate, vegemite and charred meat. Thin but creamy. Brings back good memories.

From a can. Draught. Aroma, taste, and feel of a good stout. I am a fan but don't quite rate it as highly as everyone else. Still a steady and good beer.

Dark brown with a thick, creamy, off-white head. Slight caramel aroma and no hops to speak of. Roasted malts, caramel, with very slight hint of coffee with vert little bitterness. Creamy mouth feel. This is an enjoyable old standard. It is easily the most readily available stout to be found. It used to be my beer of choice in the late 80’s and 90’s. Today’s stouts are pushing the bounds of what a stout can be and I love the big RIS out there. Sometimes it is nice to go back to the things that have just been there for so long.

Tap. Big foamy brown head lasts till the end, thick lace. Black. Malty bready arom. Tastes as the aroma, some minerals and dark bitterness. Watery body, smooth as silk.

Slowly settling lip sticking, lacing, drinking rings forming, lasting smooth light brown foam head, just the way I like it. That alone is worth while having this beer. Dark brown color, small coffee aroma. Great taste. Had this many times but somehow did not rate. (Dubai 201410)

still not a great beer, and there are hundreds of stouts that are better, but at least the nitro gives it a smooth feel, and takes your mind of the lack of flavor. you can pull out the roasted malt notes if you try, but you shouldn’t have to. too bad macro drinkers think all dark beers are Guinness."

Guinness : her name says all ! Drink it, love it ;) One of the most complex beer to describe. Like the coffee it seems...
