mhoster56 (34), Fleetwood, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 11, 2006 Tap. The best available macrobrewed dry stout. While it is the stout I "cut my teeth on" so to speak, its rather dry, unexciting flavor has been lost on me over the previous year. Burnt chocolate is the main flavor one will sample in consuming a Guinness. One can also detect mulitiple hop varities, but not a sufficent flavor of coffee to keep my tounge satisfied. The milky-cream, tan appearance out of a tap, bottle, or can remains fantastic to witness. Few bars pour Guinness over a spoon like the company insists upon, but when it is done correctly, you have a beer which acutally looks better than it tastes. I still believe that Guinness is an outstanding macro -- nonetheless, for its guady pricetag, I would fervently demand a micro stout at any time of day.
bsm80 (99), Massapequa, New York, USA Sep 7, 2008 Thick and unique, this is one of a kind IF you get the right pour (C02 ratio) or if you pour yourself from the can. Thick, black pour with a perfect tan head, caramel, chocolate, smooth as it gets; this is liquid dessert. ZazuH (16), Brentwood, California, USA Sep 7, 2008 Can. Earthy, dark roast aroma. Wonderfully thick, creamy tan head leaves great lacing. Flavor is dark espresso w/ a slight hint of peaty smoke, but finishes dry. Creamy palate w/ a slight metallic mouthfeel at the end. The quintessential stout, in my book. hyperion886 (3), , Pennsylvania, USA does not count Sep 6, 2008 A surprisingly smooth dark beer leaving no bitter aftertaste. This is surely a classic that any beer drinker would like, even if you arent a fan of the dark kind. A must taste! Necron99 (19), Clermont, Florida, USA Sep 3, 2008 A classic beer, pours black with a creamy head. Light malt aroma. Thick and creamy roasted malt flavor. Slightly milky and metallic finish, but still smooth. Hard to beat a good guinness. Lubiere (3256), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Sep 2, 2008 A dark clear brown stout with a creamy nitro light moka head. A light chocolate malt aroma, coming more clearly as beer warms up (served way too cold). In mouth, a nice peaty malt, roasted notes, especially when imbibing the foam. Lighter bodied, but overall, much superior to what we get in Canada. On tap at O’Neill’s, terminal 3, Heathrow. Mid Nov. 2006.
