3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: SEP 16, 2008 My first Guinness was a horrid bottled beer many years ago. Today’s version with the “widget” delivering something resembling a hand-pulled mouthfeel is a great improvement. The Draught cans still have a somewhat “fizzier” head than a draft pull, but at least the head is creamy and plays well with the roasty beer body. For sure, Guinness has become an American mega-brew, and craft brews surpass it in taste, but it’s still a fine session beer and an alternative to a horse-p*** pilsner.
Revision note: Oh yeah, good smoked peat taste in my latest can. Acidic, too. I’ve based my ratings on the pint “pub draught” cans that have been in my beer fridge for over two years now (one left), and it seems to have aged pretty well.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Can. The most well-known beer in the world. Brilliant appearance - black opaque color with thick medium creamy head (thanks to "floating widget" in the can). Not so interesting in aroma, but definitely impressive in taste. Chocolate caramel bitter finish is almost perfect. Recommend it for everyone!

One in a three part Guinness-off
A: Pours a deep brown ale with a 2.5 finger peanut head of fine quality. This falls slowly leaving a clean glass with no lacing, but a thick quilt of the same foam throughout the life. There is excellent clarity where available.
S: Caramelized sugars, cocoa, tomato paste, hints of noble and earthy hops. Soil. Sweet and juicy smelling malts.
T: Light malts are accentuated with some hay, soil, metallic flavors. Some tomato flavors (sorry folks, that’s what I taste). Finish is sweet and bready - rye bready.
M: Creamy but light in body with lo carbonation. finish is thick and slimy. I like the mouthfeel on this beer.
O: this is a classic. I have never really liked it much. Not a bad beer, but only good once or twice annually.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
14.9 oz nitro can from Evergreen Discount into my 2010 World Cup Guinness glass. Black appearance with a lasting, light tan head, looks nice. Aroma of sweet malts, milk chocolate, caramel, toffee and a light roast. Similar flavor with a strange tangy, metallic, light tartness. A light body with a very thin feel. Overall, it’s hardly drinkable, perhaps this can was way past its prime. Drain pour imminent!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I’ve drank more pints of this than i care to remember, always best from the pump at the pub. It looks amazing with it’s creamy head which usually lasts all the way to the bottom of the glass. Guinness is something I will always come back to and luckily it is served pretty much everywhere here!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
The old stand by. Flavors of coffee, roasted nuts and milk chocolate. Dry finish, lighter than it looks.

Black with a tan head. Creamy chocolate/coffee bitterness with a smooth finish. One of my favorite standards.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Snyggt i glaset blir det ju trots all med hjälp av gaspatronen. Tentaplugg till domarutbildningen. Kategori 7A. Dry stout. I princip helt svart. Brända dofter av kaffe och svartmalt. Möjligen choklad. Ingen tydlig humling. Lätt kropp. (Ville minnas denna som tyngre men den här är ju riktigt tunn). Beska är tydlig, sannolikt kan den vara maltrelaterad (svartmalt?). Låg kolsyra. Kaffe och brända toner. Sträv.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Good old Guinness, drunk on Tap from the Bad Hersfeld News Café: deep dark, almost black appearance but mahogany when held to the light, the creamy head and lacing remain intact to the last drop. (Thank you, nitrogen!) Guinness Draught has a light coffee aroma and a rather bitter taste with a dry finish. It's a nice beer for a winter evening with friends.
---Cheers until next time!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Great dense head, the best ever. Aroma is weak yeasty, a bit of milky coffee. Taste is sour and dry. Finish is slightly dry. Needs more character.
