3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: SEP 16, 2008 My first Guinness was a horrid bottled beer many years ago. Today’s version with the “widget” delivering something resembling a hand-pulled mouthfeel is a great improvement. The Draught cans still have a somewhat “fizzier” head than a draft pull, but at least the head is creamy and plays well with the roasty beer body. For sure, Guinness has become an American mega-brew, and craft brews surpass it in taste, but it’s still a fine session beer and an alternative to a horse-p*** pilsner.
Revision note: Oh yeah, good smoked peat taste in my latest can. Acidic, too. I’ve based my ratings on the pint “pub draught” cans that have been in my beer fridge for over two years now (one left), and it seems to have aged pretty well.

Dohány, kávé, füst, kátrány, korom, feketeribizli, citrom. Utóíz: ínyen, szájpadláson tartós, savas-kesernyés. Enyhe stout, de a legjobb "kommersz" eddig.

Chocolate, coffee and note of caramel in aroma. Deep black color with ruby reflection something like in coke. Smooth, velvety, creamy foam with nice lacing - thanks to nitrogen. Low carbonation. Dry, maybe even a little watery. Coffee and chocolate in taste. Little sour. Aftertaste is pretty same but has nice bitterness - not too high, but its enough for this beer. Very easy drinkable and well made stout.

Had on Draft at the Guinness Store House in Dublin. Guinness has laways been a favorite of mine, but the fresshness of the one I had there took it up another notch. Just an amazing beer.

Still a good stout. But can taste very bland compared to some of the new craft beers.

Looks great when poured but that’s about the only good points it has. Aroma is faintly roasty, flavour is bland and the finish is very watery. Not what a stout should be at all.

Okay, the only reason this doesn’t score higher is that I find it the least Amazing of it, Original and the best, none are my favourite drink but are still the best all around, here goes.
The Draught version of Guinness Boasts a powerful, deep complexity of Roasted Barley, Heaps of malt, Target hops, and traces of Nugget, along with it’s rich mighty yeasty beastly liquorice.
It pours...it pours magic, the blackest beer Stouts and Blackest of it’s family, dense, formidable, brave hidden ruby beauty, with a strong, defining world class head.
On the palate is very heavy, creamy, velvety with minimal carbonation, and in it’s taste is near perfection, staple Guinness harsh and dominating malts and barley, roasted coffee, background’s of vanilla pod, liquorice, turmeric and Galena hop’s along with side hint’s of nugget and and a little target.
It gives the impression of eating a meal, a Sunday roast in liquid form, with a powerful burnt chocolate and aniseed finish, very bitter, long and merciless rattling of your mouth, simply exceptional!

One of my favourite beers of all time. It’s hard to explain why, but maybe everyone has that with a particular beer.
