3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught can version. Pours a dark brown that gives a deep red amber when held up to the light. Thick, pillowy head that is light tan in color and remains throughout. Aroma is rather restrained, but roasted malts are most discernible. Taste is of malts and some hops in background. Lightly bitter taste, with some slight sourness. A faint flavor of coffee is discernible. Palate is velvety smooth, like drinking cream. Overall, this classic is a fine, but not remarkable, stout. This particular version is more notable for the appearance and palate (both due to the nitro can) than for its aroma or taste. Try to appreciate the former, but look to other versions of Guinness for the latter.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Pours very beautiful dark brown/black with nice light tan almost white head. The head really never dissapears, looks really nice. Aroma is coffee, hints of caramel, rather faint smell. Taste: watery, coffee, roastiness. faint bitterness, some sourness. Coffee and sourness is also present in finish, but so is the taste of water. Soft carbonation.Overall: I have really mixed feelins how to rate it - it looks and tastes exactly like dry stout should, but I don’t enjoy it very much. The watery taste is just killing everything else for me. How can beer that looks so good, taste so watery?! You can add +1 or more to total score, if you want to taste what "lifeless palate and muted flavour and aroma" tastes like, otherwise don’t bother.

My Jekyll & Hyde of beers - sometimes tastes great, other times not so much. Creamy palate is its best trait.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a black colour with a thick creamy head. Aroma of dark malts, cream, nuts. Watery and unremarkable, and very much overrated. Even this brewer has many better beers.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
I poured several bottles of this one (by the way, the bottle may be the best thing about this beer). It was a nice change from my old standards. It pours very dark (black/brown). Mine exhibited a small head with good lacing. The head never fully dissipated. This
balanced beer has a very minimal sweet and coffee taste to the palate and its bitterness hangs on the tongue
a long time. It does have an overall watery body but it’s an Irish dry stout you can drink all night long
and not get drunk.

Might be overrated but is my go-to beer whenever I’m in an Irish pub where no decent pilsener is being served.

Most overrated beer ever. Pours black with the trademark Guinness cap poured with the traditional pour-wait-pour process. Taste like water. So if you like your water coloured black, then this is the brew for you. A good gateway drug to more interesting stouts and/or porters but if you don’t make it past this & try something better youre just stealing oxygen from my local (and responsible for the lame beer on tap at most bars).
