Bottle at home. Pitch black pour, foamy tan head that leaves lacing. Aroma of bread, licorice, roasted malts and some sugars. Flavor is dry and spicy, somewhat ashy, lots of roasted malts and still a bit watery. Watery texture and average carbonation. Nice brew.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 30, 2011 Draught in Kennedys Bar Copenhagen. This beer needs to be treated with respect by the bar. If not it is a very unpleasant experience. You need to find a bar with a good flow on the tap an cleans their lines regularly. They are hard enough to find but Kennedys is definately one. No beer in the world looks better with itís jet black body and creamy head. Every mouthfull should leave a ring on the side of the glass. Not as creamy as the Guinness in Ireland but still a fine beer when done well

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle in the Czech Republic. Really dark, bottom fermented lager with a dark foam, but it will not last long. Excellent taste. It seems identical to that sold in Ireland.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle in Moint-Sur-Loing, France.
Pours a deep Coke-Cola black with a lively body and a beige head. Flavor is molasses, earthy vegetables, and pumpernickle bread. Tingly but average; a bit too thin. A bit disappointing taste-wise but still nice.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours dark brown-redish with rich fluffy head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. Suprisingly flat on aroma with hints of malts and hay. Watery with little character, roasted malts and some hoppy flavor, dry. Even flat on the palate and the finish is even so with a short bitter aftertaste.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Creamy aroma that is sour, coffee-y, and toasty, with more than detectable, floral hops. Almost opaque, clear garnet-black under a lasting, khaki fizz island. Light toasty sour malt flavour that fades to caramel and then mineral water. Nice, but weak. Light body, medium carbonation, tiny black malt bite before a clean finish.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Slim 330ml bottle, 5% ABV, bought at Systembolaget Kiruna in the middle of Swedish Lapland. Fluffy, fawn-coloured head, slowly fading, leaving a single, rocky patch behind. The colour of the body is almost devil-black with a brownish shade. Smell of chocolate malts supported by notes of coffee. Sweet roasted grain in flavour offset by the bitterness from coffee grounds. Short-lived ending and easy to drink (TromsÝ, St. Patrickís Day, 2010).
