For Continental Europe, to stay in conformance with the German Purity Law, Guinness produces an all-malt version, replacing the flaked barley.

Bottle: Med dark brown black. Good head and lace. Roasted nose. Maybe a hint of age. clean. Chocolate and cocoa. Dry, hint of sourness and moderate to low bitterness. Clean and simple. Solid commercial beer but lacks depth. There is certainly a funky edge to the palate. Interesting but lacks texture.

Black with a big foamy, greyish head. Ruby brown highlights. Smell is salty malty leather and roasted nuts. Touch of coffee, yoghurt. Taste is full and bitter, salty. Smokey finish with lots of coffee. Refreshing and easy to drink. Lots of character.

W barwie czarne jak smoła, piękna, beżowa piana, drobnopęcherzykowa, jednak dość szybko opada, lacing słaby. Aromat dosyć słaby, czuć palone słody i coś jakby przypalony karmel. Piwo jest jak na stout zdecydowanie za bardzo nasycone. Całkowity brak goryczki. Za słodkie. Ogůłem może się sprawdzić jako barowe pijadło, ale nie w tej cenie. Nie polecam.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2015 33cl bottle Appearance: A Good light brown rocky head on top of a black body, but the retention ainít that great, the big ring of lacing is nice. Aroma: Coffee, roasted malts, nuts, caramel Taste: Moderate sweet, with a hint of sourness, which makes it moderate sour. Taste folllows the Aroma. While nice allthough itís a bit watery.chocolate aftertaste thin body, lively carbonation, oily texture. Good example, with good availability, but not the best beerby far in the style

330ml brown bottle poured into a snifter glass. Appearance is opaque brownish black with a large frothy khaki colored head that reduced quickly, leaving lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malts. Flavours of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts and nutty notes. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Palate is medium bodied, smooth texture and average carbonation. Guinness Extra Stout is fuller bodied and more flavorful than the regular Guinness Draft, overall a better beer but without the creaminess.

Blind sampel @ Systembolaget tasting. Dark to golden brown, weak brown head. Sweet "prickly" aroma with dried fruits, soy acidity and some yeast. Acid almost sour taste, lasting green-ish bitterness.

It may be a huge, marketing focused commercial beer, but Guinness is just great. Toasted malt flavour with a little bit of vanilla, traditional for a stout, but refreshing at the same time. Itís not the best stout youíll try for sure, but itís always welcome because itís everywhere in the world.
