COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Labatt's brew a pale ale base to which is added the unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract. Guinness Extra Stout is brewed in Canada by Labatt under license from Arthur Guinness Son & Company. Editor's Note: It looks like Moosehead is also brewing Guinness. Bottles in the US are from there of late, but Canadian bottles are still showing Labatt. 04/23/06

The bottle Guinness is a very poor comparison to the draft. It might be a really good stout but my judgment is skewed because I expected to have something similar to the tap version. Dry. Snappy. Bitter.

Compared to the real draught version, this one was pretty mediocre and nondescript. Lackluster aroma and flavor. No layering.

On tap its great, otherwise, leave it on the shelf.

If you like black tar, thick syrup, low carb style beers...knock yourself out. This extra stout is not for me! I very much would like to compare other stout beers.

Probably my least favorite beer. OK, admittedly I’m not a fan of stout by any means but this stuff makes my stomach curl.

The touchstone of Irish style stouts. Creamy, but the bottled always has a disconcerting watery thinness.

Best Guinness aside from on tap in my reckoning.

More bitter than I expected, and not as drinkable as the draft. Maybe a little TOO stout for me!
