Labattís brew a pale ale base to which is added the unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract. Guinness Extra Stout is brewed in Canada by Labatt under license from Arthur Guinness Son & Company. Editorís Note: It looks like Moosehead is also brewing Guinness. Bottles in the US are from there of late, but Canadian bottles are still showing Labatt. 04/23/06

Well I was pleasantly surprised by this brew; I actually might say I prefer this to the original Guinness draught. Although this doesn't pour with the famous nitrogen-induced cloudy head appearance, still has a solid ruby black hue with plenty of creamy head. Aroma is a little stale and bland, but has some roasty malty notes to it. The taste had a more pronounced earthy hoppiness than the standard Guinness, nice roasty malt balance as well. Smooth and drinkable, pleasant dark chocolate and bitter English hop finish. Not amazingly impressive, but I could drink this as a hearty dinner accompaniment.

Bottle. Black color with thin tan head and substantial lacing. Roasted malt aroma. Bitterness and chocolatey malt up front with some coffee notes. Sweet finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from the bottle into a Guinness Stout glass. Pours dark brown with a nice khaki head. Smells like creamy chocolate and smoke. Tastes like bananas, coffee, and chocolate. Palate creamy and smooth. Overall a really nice stout.

$3 for a bomber, canít beat that. Like the draft with a bigger mouthfeel and more carbonation. Get the roasted malt and slight hints of chocolate. Very easy drinking, it wonít make you slow down like bigger stouts. Could session these but stouts not a style I session.

This is kind of similar like Draught, but dryer, may be too much. There is chocolate, caramel. Medium body and good carbonation. Not bad, but For me Draught is better.

Bottle. A- Roasty, mocha, cocoa, malty. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Roasty, cocoa, malty, dry. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish O- Everything about Guinness Draught with extra. Itís not extra good but itís still better than regular Guinness.

12 oz. bottle from BevMo. Nose of caramel and roasted malt. Taste of bittersweet cocoa, black coffee, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, molasses and earthiness. Fair amount of roasted bitterness on the finish. Good balance of complexity and richness of flavors. Not too heavy. Medium carbonation. Alcohol well hidden with only a slight warming after the finish. Could be smoother but generally a crisp easy drinking stout. Love the 5% ABV.

It's definitely a Guinness beer. I wish it had a widget in the bottle but does not. Still though, a decent dark beer for not a lot of money. I'd buy it again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500 ml can poured at home. Honestly donít remember where I got it. Itís been in my beer fridge forever. Not my first, nor last time Iíve had a guinness. Pours tan in color and settles to a dark black. Thick creamy head that stays forever. Malty, molasses flavour, that is actually kind of watery (compared to what one would expect by looking at it). It has earned its reputation for a reason.

This beer is a classic. I had the North American one. Heard the original is different and has a better taste. Nice bourbon sweetness taste makes it worthwhile.
