Labattís brew a pale ale base to which is added the unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract. Guinness Extra Stout is brewed in Canada by Labatt under license from Arthur Guinness Son & Company. Editorís Note: It looks like Moosehead is also brewing Guinness. Bottles in the US are from there of late, but Canadian bottles are still showing Labatt. 04/23/06

Black like the draught, but the head isnít as creamy. Many of the same flavors as the original, but with CO2 itís just not the same.

Theres miles of difference between draught (or canned) and this, so donít expect it to taste like it did on tap. Bottled Guinness has the worst aftertaste though

12 oz Bottle -- Pours black with a thin soapy light brown head. Aromas of raisin, chocolate, fig, brown sugar, black current, and toast. Not overly sweet, with a long bitter finish. Pretty lively carbonation.

The cascade effect is awesome wish i had it for my screen saver. There are better beers in the world but not many, you cant go wrong with this fine beer.

From a bottle. Roasted coffee aroma. Classic dark stout appearance with an off white, well retained frothy head. Taste somewhat similar to regular Guinness with stronger roasted black coffee notes. Medium bodied and more malts in the finish.

Aroma ok with roast. Great black color. Nice carbonation, but real real water lean. Tang like on aftertaste. Better than most macros but way better stouts out there.

Pours a very dark brown. Thick pillowy tan head. All kinds of lacing.

Aroma is of dark roast malt. Coffee and chocolate are in there too, like you would expect from a stout. Thereís something else too, canít quite make it out.

Taste is good. A little watery. An excellent balance between hops and malt. Itís bitter, itís sweet. But itís not too much either way. Itís almost a head to head matchup between chocolate and coffee and having a draw.

Mouthfeel is medium, not exactly what you expect from a stout. Itís watery. It finishes a little bitter. Itís a little lower in alcohol than I expect from a stout. But still, itís super drinkable.

Overall, itís excellent. A very drinkable stout. Itís iconic, but this is made in Canada. Iím a little disappointed. Still, very tasty Certainly worth trying!

Bottle gifted by my cousin (to your health!) poured into a glass mug. Wish I had a bar next door with Guinness on tap so I could compare to a draught but here goes...Aroma - roasted malt and brown sugar. Ap - dark with a tan head - no surprise here. Taste - 70% roast malt, 10 % hop bitter, 10 % bitter chocolate, 5 % roast malt-cherry, 5% - other? Palate - smooth but also carbonated at the same time. I have a home brew stout aging in the basement and will add an edit to compare it in about another two weeks.
