COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Labattís brew a pale ale base to which is added the unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract. Guinness Extra Stout is brewed in Canada by Labatt under license from Arthur Guinness Son & Company. Editorís Note: It looks like Moosehead is also brewing Guinness. Bottles in the US are from there of late, but Canadian bottles are still showing Labatt. 04/23/06

Black with huge tan head. Head retains all night long with really thick lacing. Aroma is honestly typical stout: roasted grains, residual sweetness, some very faint trails of hops, Toffee. Taste is more black coffee and acidic. Its pretty good, however, it doesnít really offer anything special...just a decent stout.

You folks reading this all know what this tastes like. What surprises me is how different this is than the draught. Itís better imo.

Pours a very dark brown. Thick pillowy tan head. All kinds of lacing.

Aroma is of dark roast malt. Coffee and chocolate are in there too, like you would expect from a stout. Thereís something else too, canít quite make it out.

Taste is good. A little watery. An excellent balance between hops and malt. Itís bitter, itís sweet. But itís not too much either way. Itís almost a head to head matchup between chocolate and coffee and having a draw.

Mouthfeel is medium, not exactly what you expect from a stout. Itís watery. It finishes a little bitter. Itís a little lower in alcohol than I expect from a stout. But still, itís super drinkable.

Overall, itís excellent. A very drinkable stout. Itís iconic, but this is made in Canada. Iím a little disappointed. Still, very tasty Certainly worth trying!

Bottle gifted by my cousin (to your health!) poured into a glass mug. Wish I had a bar next door with Guinness on tap so I could compare to a draught but here goes...Aroma - roasted malt and brown sugar. Ap - dark with a tan head - no surprise here. Taste - 70% roast malt, 10 % hop bitter, 10 % bitter chocolate, 5 % roast malt-cherry, 5% - other? Palate - smooth but also carbonated at the same time. I have a home brew stout aging in the basement and will add an edit to compare it in about another two weeks.

Bottle. Much better than Guinness Stout draft! Medium hoppy aroma with actual discernible carbonation. Balanced hoppy taste. Slightly bitter finish.

12 oz single bottle from Mile High Wine & Spirits. Black appearance with a light brown head and lacing. Aroma of roasted grain, wheat, bitter chocolate. Similar flavor with a mild roast bitterness and a light dry, lingering finish. There is just something off about it. No thanks. Pairing: Dropkick Murphys - Iím Shipping Up to Boston

Bottle @ Butcher Block, Sarasota, FL. Dark, rich, chocolaty aroma. Tastes great. A tiny bit too bitter on the palate, but the overall deliciousness negates this. Overall, a tasty & refreshing dark brew. Just disappointed itís not brewed in Ireland.

Whiffs of chocolate, coffee and some detectable hops. Great espresso bite with some chocolate coming beforehand. Lingering dry finish with espresso and hops closing the door ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a black from a bottle with a thick khaki head. No nose to speak of, perhaps dampened by the pillowy head. Flavor is of mild coffee, maybe a little cherry jam. Dry in the mouth, overall I feel the mouthfeel is where this beer stands out comparatively, other characteristics are kind of meh.
