Guinness Foreign Extra Stout (Nigeria)

355ml bottle. London Tan foam atop a ruby-highlighted black body. Sweet malt aroma straightup; toffee, perfumey cereal, milk chocolate, combine with roasted meat and wood notes. Moderate carbonation, sligh creamy texture, rich body with quite a high lactic sharpness. Quite a complex flavour; charred wood, burnt toffee, plum, sour mash, minerally notes. All of which linger on a bitter finish. Very different from the authentic stuff, more funky and complex in comparison.

Black body with a large and solid, lasting, light tan head. Rings of lacing. Light roasted malts in the aroma as well as a little liquorice. A little grainy in the taste, coffee, cocoa and don’t really notice the alcohol.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks zvikar. Black-colored with a medium light brown head. Aroma has some roastiness, yeast, strange fruitiness and subdued notes of coffee beans, nuts and dark fruits. Flavor assures me this one is infected, as it is a bit too sour and yeasty with some more of the strange fruitiness and almost no sweetness. It seems quite a few raters had an infected bottle of this, so I’m rating it anyway.

At a tasting, thanks Zvikar, small beige head, dark brown colour, strong lactic notes, vanila and a touch of roasted coffee, Flavours of metal, charcoal ,earth, hint of soy and a strange dried fruits sweetness. foul sour aftertaste.

Thanks Naam. Bummer this one is probably spoiled, dark brown with nice head, aroma of chocolate, dry fruits and cheesy sourness, flavors has some acids burnt notes and not enough sweetness. It should probably be spoiled or over-rated

Black color; big, creamy head. Malty aroma, chocolate. Good body, chocolate flavor, with a pleasant degree of sweetness, light liquorice, light mix of coffee and roasted malt, unfortunately also a bit dusty. The final has a light metallic trace. Overall interesting.

Pours a deep, thick, viscous black with a dense tan foam head. Aroma is cocoa, burnt malts and sugars. Taste is cocoa, brown sugar, burnt malts and cereals, quite oaty towards the end. Finishes with a short bitter burnt-malt and almost no alcohol. Interesting and very flavourfull, this delivered way more than I expected from this beer.

Bottle. Thanks for sharing this one ChristianScheffel. Pours dark brown with a nice creamy cappuccino coloured head. Aromas of chestnuts, dried fruit, ryebread and chocolate. Flavours of dark fruit, coffee, sugar and chocolate. My favorite Nigerian beer so far..
