3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 fiulijn (10421) - Como, ITALY - APR 20, 2012
Bottle from friend Maria Black color, with medium sized beige head. Mild aroma of roasted malt and caramel, a bit nutty. Roasted malt flavor, not aggressive, some molasses, mild acidity. I have never been to Ghana, but I guess this is the best beer available there.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Bathory (59) - Bryne, NORWAY - APR 19, 2012
Completely black, with very light brown head. Aroma of coffee, roasty, caramel, licorice. Medium sweetness, medium bitterness and a distinctive fruityness. Quite long roasty and bitter finish. Medium body and a soft creamyness. A bit more carbonised than the regual Guinness. This one was way better in my opinion. A very pleasant suprise, din’t have much belief here, but it luckily proved me wrong! Would definitely recommend thos one. Tasted a bit like the "Taddy Porter" accually.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Bierkrug (1666) - Idar-Oberstein (In East Africa), Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - MAR 31, 2011
UPDATED: FEB 22, 2012 Rerate fresh in Ghana, 330 ml bottle pours the almost black color with almost no head. Aroma has some great spices, and some dark malts and cloves. Taste almost reminds me of an Aventinus. Nice spices and flavors coming through. Palate is smooth. This beer when stored correctly and served cold is very nice.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Krasulak (88) - Wapadrand, Pretoria, SOUTH AFRICA - MAR 7, 2011
Pours opaque black with creamy beige head. Aroma is caramelised malt and some liquorice. Flavour is roasted malt, sweet molasses and a hint of tobacco. There is a peculiar "touch of evil" in the flavour (sorghum?). Alcohol is noticeable. Full body. Finish is sweet molasses with a "touch of evil" and tobacco tar with balancing hop bitterness. It is an interesting and flavourful stout with rough edges.
