3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Country #89. 320ml can courtesy of Daniel Brown - cheers again Dan. Would also like to give credit to the guy who gave this to you - not sure who... Guinness black. Aroma is toffee and caramel sweetness with fruit cake but itís relatively weak. Taste is watered down coffee, sultanas, orange peel, some cigar smoke. Finish starts off short in first few mouthfuls but builds and lingers. Balance is on the sweet side - some mulled wine creeping in as I work down. A nice way to chalk off another country.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bought in Malaysia in a hotel bar. Smells like porter/stout, nothing intense. Pours black with light brown head. Tastes watery, a bit overcarbonated for me, sour, then roasted malt kicks in with some bitterness and again sour. Donít like the sourness of this one. Had waited for something more intense. Pretty big difference from Irish version of Guinness - day and night.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Looks good like a regular Guinness, black with big brown head. Smells great, chocolate as soon as you open the bottle. Also smells like very fresh, slightly fruity coffee. Taste is meh, grainy and roasted. Very dry mouth feel, and well balanced viscosity. Roast aftertaste. 330 ml bottle, 11 months old.

2.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle 0,33l 7,5 ABV. Pours dark brown to black body with creamy foamy long lacing dark mocha tone head. Aroma is licorice, plums, roasted malts, leather. Palate is oily, sticky flat with flat carbonation and mouthfeel. Taste is bitter, dry , roasty malty and has that bitterness of raw cacao beans and wood among other flavors. Finish is medium long and bitter, little edgy on the end. A serious winy flavor is noticeable, common to high ABVs. Overall, somewhat unbalanced but drinkable stout with high ABV.

320ml in Melaka, Malaysia (8.90RM):
Sweet with roasted malts, sugar, figs, dates and raisins. Finished with some alcohol and light chocolate.
Black with a creamy, tan brown head that slowly fades to leave thick lacing.
Sweet withsugar & dark fruits (plum & dates mainly). Strong alcohol, some grain & coffee with some chocolate too.
Light medium with lots of sugar & carbonation. Very sweet & with strong alcohol throughout.
Not a bad a foreign extra really although definitely not as good as the Nigerian or Irish versions. Came across as too sweet and the balance with the alcohol wasnít great.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
This Guinness had hardly any Guinnessness. Not much of a nose, to start with, but as the beer "breathes, thereís a tart aroma of red fruits and bread. Thin bodied, practically watery, it has a tart flavour that spreads across the tongue with a certain bite, a rusty iron sting, some water-diluted Milo and a charred bitterness. Certainly impressive, in a negative way, by its Guinnessnesless.
