Pours with a a frothy head which quickly disipates. Aroma is almost chocolate/coffee. And the taste is rather surprising, to me it tastes like sultanas and dried fruit, very nice and not unpleasant.
I am assuming this beer was bottle conditioned too as it had sediment on the bottom of the bottle.
All in all probably one of the best stouts I’ve ever had, and what Guinness should be like! motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 31, 2007 Better than the Dublin Foreign Extra. Very unusual aroma. Alchohol certainly doesn’t dominate. Certainly very sweet, but balanced. As long as you don’t try and drink it out the bottle, this is worthwhile. As other reviewers have said, the sorghum is very evident. bierkoning (6035), La Tropica, Netherlands
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 21, 2007 Bottle found in Wageningen. Roasted malt and grape juice in the aroma. Roasted malt, rye, raisin and coffee in the bitter, but also tart flavor. Citrus, blackcurrant and tobacco. Quite a complex beer, and surprisingly refreshing. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 3, 2007 Jet black with a wonderfully big lumpy layer of mottled brown head settling in sticky uneven lumps. Aroma of dates and espresso. Sweet brown sugar with a nice bourbon undertone. Smoky, mineral flavor, blended with molasses tart/char sweetness and a dry ashy finish. For a beer this strong, with much going on, the palate is fairly delicate. Wonderful surprising stuff that has no business being as good as it is. dcattorney (13), USA
| 1.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 4/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Dec 13, 2006 Had this beer in a cafe in Mali, West Africa. It came out of the bottle slowly, almost as a syrup. I thought it had spoiled, but the waiter assured me they are all like that.
The appearance was solid black, with few bubbles on top. Unfortunately, the taste was bitter and acrid. It was almost undrinkable.
I think several reviews have confused this beer with its counterparts in other countries. MiP (9070), Sønderborg, Denmark
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 24, 2006 Bottle, 7.5%. Sweet and sour, maizy aroma. Sourish flavour with high bitterness, not too pleasant. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Bad.
