One of the many special foreign versions of Guinness made in Africa with sorgho. Yellowish beige head, colour practically black, aroma with a sweetish sorgho character, spicy notes and the typical roasted coffee beans; taste roasted bitter with creamy mouthfeel, quite complex due to the sorgho and a remarkable lactic acidity of yoghurt or sour cream, sweetish with dry finish. The best Guinness I tasted so far, even if coming from a location where one would not expect a beer this interesting.

65?cl bottle shared@kevnic2008’s exotic Kurstadt tasting 12/07/2014, thanks! This weird ride of a familiar Guinness round starts with a sourish rubber nose, truck tire wafting underneath a leaden sun. Astringent palate. I suspect the sorghum (and also, apparenly mais) introduces the memorable benchmark weirdness to the all too familiar taste, going into very complex earthy and vegetal aromatics, vegemite accompanied by liquorice cough drop, ricola and milk chocolate. Virtually none of that good for you creaminess. Not sure if I enjoyed it, but every sip was a full-on condensed discovery ride across a continent.

Bottle thanks to SarkyNorthener cheers Martin; dark brown almost black pour with creamy tan head, dark fruit and chocolate aroma, taste has liquorice, dark fruits, sweet chocolate, a surprising but pleasant amount of bitterness, definitely got more hop character than your standard Guinness.

Bottle 33cl, @goutte d’or Paris. This version is less creamy, more caramel notes and licorice, even some lactose notes, good anyway.

That Dublin beers stronger African cousin adds a lot to the Guinness experience. With stronger notes of toffee and laid down fruits, it ups the performance of the oats and hops and give you the bitterness and alcohol you miss when drinking regular Guiness. A very fine version of the black stuff.

Bottle. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and plums. Taste is really weird: sour/bittersweet with a long lasting roasted coffee and malt taste. Certainly an interesting brew, not at all what I expected, but quite unbalanced and thus far out. I still enjoyed it somehow.
