Bottle - Black body, big light brown head; A little cardboard in an otherwise simple dark malty nose; Quite sharp powerful body, bitter and only slightly sweet, very special with something strange hidden; Big full finish, bitter with a bite. Great beer and not your average Guinness.

Bottle, BB 3/22/08, thanks to Craig!! This was the closest I had at home to an "Irish" beer for St. Paddy’s Day. Poured clear, deeper brown with a 2-finger creamy cap of tan head.. sticky lacing as it descended. The aroma was very intriguing.. sweeter toasted chocolate malts pair with sweet corn and some sort of greener spiciness.. nicely balanced with a dark prevailing sweetness (chocolate, molasses, and earth). The flavor was a bit too sweet for my liking.. molasses, cane sugar, and sweet chocolates paired with honey, corn, and grassy bitterness.. very strong sticky, bitter finish that I’m not sure that I liked. Heavier-bodied with higher carbonation and a rising, pervasive sweet and bitter impression on the finish.. kinda burned too, and the sorghum really sticks on the very back. This was certainly interesting.

(Bottle 32,5 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Pours completely opaque black with a creamy, dense, light brown head leaving some lacework. Rather odd aroma of burned malts and a strange, unclean fruitinerss. Medium body with rather burned malt accents and an unclean acidity as well as some medicinal notes - could this be the sorghum? Burned bitterness in the finish. 140308

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a minor redish hue. Fruity/sorghum and light malt aroma. Flavour is sweet and dominated by sorghum. Light roasted malt flavour which gives an almost sour acidic flavour. Ends with a roasted note and more of the same sorghum fruity note.

This is so much better compared to the draught version. Smoked coffee aroma, a little sourrish and something candyish(or is that the sorghum??). Bitterish, sourrish a bit harsh, hop, apple, candy, coffee taste. Completely different and good, a bit strange. Nice!

Fuller bodied than standard Guinness, typically black in colour, roasted malt flavours with slight fruity hints in the background.Robust in style with the alcohol being quite noticable, I dont think it’s meant to be quaffed in quantity, but one to savour.Tesco.
