Bottle. Pours an almost black body with some reddish notes. Roasted, licorice-ish aroma with some coffee-ish butterscotch. Sweet and roasted flavor with butterscotch and some bitterness, both hoppy and coffeeish. Nice sweet and bitter finish. Full body. I found the beer to have too much butterscotch, else it is a fine brew, but it was more of a "fun to have tasted" experience than a "wow" experience. Rating: 6-4-6-4-13-3.3. )

Bottle, thx to Maria. Cameroon edition. Looks really lovely in the glass, Dark brown body and a lasting being to tan head leaving lacings. Sweet and roasted aroma with a touch of licorice, and notes of coffee. Roasted and a bit sweet flavor, some licorice, respectable amount of coffee and bitter chocolate, and finally some dried fruit notes and a little bitterness. Full-bodied and dry. Lasting chocolatey sweetness and roasted malt in the finish. Cute. )

I had this at room temperature and what a nice beer it turned out to be! Interesting taste, full and satisfying, but it is far too strong to drink quickly. This is the nicest of all the variations I’ve tried.

Bored from old fashioned New Year dinner with classical dancing with retired people I escaped to my room around 1 AM to try the first beer in 2008. From bunch of them I’ve chosen this one as of new style and country. Found it in Farmahd Indien Supermarkt in Graz, and as brewed in Nigeria I have put it here so if does belong elsewhere, please remove it.
0.325 l bottle which poured dark brown, almost black body with medium brown creamy head living quite long. Fruity aroma, caramel with some slight coffee, quite nice. Flavor bitter, coffee dominating now, making it more similar to original than aroma would suggest. Alcohol is not felt at all. Finish was quite short, bitter and sour. Great Guinness is this one, but the flavor could have more...

[733-20071001] 600mL (w/ jerc, Radek Kliber, tupalev). Smokey charred meat aroma. Dark black brown body with a long-lasting foamy light tan head. Dark figgy fruit malt flavour has a bit of a tang. Medium-full body. Nice but somewhat underwhelming.

Bottle, a very dark brown with a ubbly beige head. A rich alcohol sherry-like roasty malt aroma with some licorice notes. A syrupy palate, quite acidic, a strong alcohol, fruit and sherry flavour on a toffee malt base. The long finish brings bitterness and a lot of licorice. Unusual, one to sip and savour.

This is the heaviest and most syrup-like Guinness I ever poured. It has more chocolate, fruit and liquor qualities versus its more bitter and malty cousins. I was happy to find this in an off license. The cashier told me it would taste the same as the Irish made Extra. Nope. This one comes with added sugars and fruit tones.

Thanks to JoeMcphee for sharing - dark brown beer - flowery, almost herbal aroma - kind of tart flavor, with vegetal, root plant qualities - light acidity and roastiness, tasting almost like bile with cocoa in it at times - dry, odd, soapy/bitter finish - reminds me of Sam Adams rootbeer brew, which, of course, is gross.

Thanks JoeMcphee. I was extremely impressed by this beer. Aroma was rich chocolate stout mixed with warm cereal (akin to almost a nice oatmeal stout). Taste was a bit less on the "cereal" aspect but still a very quaffable stout. Mouthfeel was undercarbonated with a nice velvety and suede feel to it. Not at all sticky but slow moving down my throat. Those Nigerians sure make a mean Guinness.
330mL bottle, St Paul tulip/snifter glass.
