Rough beer. As usual with guinness there is not enough malts or hops, but they have this time been able to come up with the strangest stinging aroma which has something to do with herbal aroma. I can not think not think jagermeister. I am not convinced. A good stout should not taste like this.

Big and Black with a beautiful, thick, strong choccoccino head. Big molassesy aroma with some liquorice and a subtle sort of ice-creaminess (probably marmite flavoured ice cream!). The flavour is heavily malty, of course as the Nigerians love their non-alcoholic malt drinks which are ’strong’ in a sense anyway, this Guinness is for the bad men, strong in so many ways! The malt is overpowering with liqorice and creamy tobacco flavours but there’s a noticeable hop backbone too but which has been completely overpowered by the malt, which is cool, because this is more of a tasty alcoholic malt drink than it is just a beer and it really does encapsulate (but also corrupts) something very prominent about Nigerian culture.

Very interesting stout! I got talking to a Nigerian chap in the Tesco beer isle & he pointed me towards this style of Guinness which I’d never encountered before. Extra Stout has a very big Flavour - it’s definitely not a subtle beer. It’s slightly more viscous than bottled Guinness Original. 7.5% alcohol volume compared to 4.2% volume of Guinness Original. Appearance - think liquid Marmite. The very bitter maltiness dominates with a tantalising hint of licorice, burnt coffee, dark bitter chocolate & molasses. There is also a fruity hint a little like prune juice, (the Sorghum perhaps?) I really didn’t know what to make of it on the first bottle, or the second, I really started warming to it by the 3rd and appreciating all the complex subtastes. By the 4th bottle I was hooked. I would love to try this as a draught! Excellent job Guinness / Nigeria - this will take some beating.

Malt, corn and alcohol in fragrance. The taste is of dark malt, caramel, citrus and coal. Truly a blend of flavor. Something I think I never bin part of. Maybe even a slight fruitiness and coffee towards the end of the taste. Wonderful bitterness in the aftertaste that fills the mouth forever. A very mixed flavor of this beer makes me hesitant but still curious. A special Guinness I liked the strong. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

28.03.2015. 0,325l Bottle. Bought in Copenhagen summer 2014. Black colour with off-white head. Aroma of red berries, coffee and liqorice. Sharp aroma. Taste and mouthfeel is a little weaker. Flavour of coffee and liqorice and berries. But its a little thin. Low on bitterness. There is some strange flavours here.

Det må jeg sige! En fantastisk lækker unik mørk oplevelse. Uhm :-) Fedt at prøve denne udgave af en Guinness... Mørk mørk bitter sort lakrids toner - så fuglene synger!

Kolor - czarny, chyba klarowny. Piana - drobna, beżowa, średnio wysoka, średnio trwała. Zapach - wyraźny palono-kawowy, aż za mocny. Smak - potwornie mocna nuta kawowo-czekoladowa, palone, z nutką kwaskowatą, średnio słodkie, mocna goryczka. Gęste, wręcz oleiste. W zasadzie nie smakowało mi. Za mocne. W składzie sorgo (proso).

Tried this’d at the Berlin beer festival was told most Guinness is brewed in Nigeria due to the river having the same iron content as the liffy don’t know how true it was, but a very drinkable effort non the less creamy and more malty than regular Guinness.
