320 ml can, at Singapore Airport Changi. ABV is 6.8%. Black colour, moderate beige head (no nitrogen). Roasty aroma and flavour, coffee notes, quite dry. Okay, but there is not much complexity here.

can from 7-11 Singapore usual very dark brown and tan head . amazing contrast to the Malysian version I had a few weeks ago in KL . aroma is dark toasted malts and taste reflects that .A very pleasant rich bitterness throughout and much dryer than other asian Foreign stouts . arguably the best brew available here

Can from JMD. Black with a medium tan head that lasts very well. Light roast aroma. Flavour is medium bitter. Toasred malt and a warming feeling at the start. Finish is dry and a little sweet. Texture is light creamy.

Can. Drank in a Singapore Hotel. More bitter than traditional guinness. Also less carbonation.

Black color, with a beautiful creamy head. Soft aroma. Strong mouthfeel; the taste is more acid than other Guinness FS, sugars, a lot of caramel and not too much roasted malt, sticky; different and pleasant. Only the final has too much roasted malt.
Bottled; had it in 2007-01-19

320 ml can. From Malaysia.
Dark brown colour with small tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, molasses but also sea water, earth and barnyard. Flavour is slightly crispier. Some fruits, tobacco and mild hops combined with roasted malt and molasses. Soft carbonation.

I drank these while traveling through Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. I’m not totally sure which versions I had but was not overly impressed by any of them at the time especially if comparing them to a fresh pint of Guinness Draft.

Singapore version, canned, tasted at 3 Nagas, Luang Prabang, Laos

Black body with a thick light brown head. Very appetizing aroma of plums, raisins, sweet dark malts and a whiff of brettanomyces. Thick, rich body. Luscious dark chocolate, brett, sweet coffee, plums, nuts, wood and port...oh yeah.

Bottle. Singapore version. Well, for starters, this is lightyears ahead of the Hong Kong version (at 5%). I think this is bottle conditioned. Pours dark. Good head. Definite roast malt presence. Vinous notes in aroma. Coffee. Promising. The taste is quite bitter, not hoppy bitter, but rather roast barley bitter. Lots of residual sweetness. Good stuff. But what really makes this beer fly is the slight sour notes in the background. I remember reading somewhere that a portion of the blend is intentionally soured (not with Brett if I remember correctly, so that probably means lacto). And to me, that’s what makes this beer worthwhile.. it just really gives it that extra bit of complexity. I was really surprised by this one and will certainly come back to it.
