COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Foreign Extra Stout is a beer like no other. The most full-flavoured of all. Singular and striking. Uniquely satisfying. Brewed with extra hops and roasted barley for a natural bite. Bitter and sweet. Refreshingly crisp. Always rewarding. Pure beauty. Pure GUINNESS.

Editor’s Note: This is the standard FES. Sometimes it is imported from Ireland but more often it is brewed locally. This version is most common in the Caribbean and Africa. All versions from those places, save for Jamaica, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana should be rated here.

Nose of char, roasted malt, coffee grounds and a bit of sherry.Taste has some roasted barley, black coffee and bittersweet chocolate. Fresh carbonation, medium mouth feel. Interesting but kinda old school but I guess that should be expected with an old classic. Full bodied, creamy roast coffee and barley.

This is a world class beer using an old Irish recipe which has the wort/mash exposed to wild yeasts. This along with the use of high quality barley malts and enough hopping to please an American palate makes this beer a surprise find from the Guinness Brewery which is owned by the Diageo Group (read Smirnoff). The beer is made to transport and because of this cellars very well and even bottle conditions which producing a great Irish stout.

The way Guinness should taste! I pick up a hint of dark fruit such as cherry or raisin in the aroma along with a slight peatiness. Very full bodied and creamy. Gorgeous beer.

Flasche (33 cl) vom Asia-Mekong-Supermarkt, Berlin. - Pechschwarz; dunkelbeigefarbener Schaum.

Sweet caramel aroma hinting of burnt sugar and super sweet dates. Lovely thick cappuccino mocha head and extremely dark ruby liquid. Flavour is burnt grains and dark fruits, otherwise quite clean. A little watery but easy going for its strength and satisfyingly nutritious seeming.
