Waaaaay better than Guinness Draught or Extra. Coffee, dried dark fruit, some sourness, a little bit of soy (but not too much), a nice level of sweetness, some hoppiness at the end.

31/10 0.33 l bottle courtesy of Doggythedog, thanks for sharing! It poured dark brown to black body with bigger brownish head. Weak aroma, some yogurt, coffee and caramel. Slightly sweetish flavor, caramel and coffee here as well, slight fruitiness. Fuller in body with longer sweet finish that misses something I can’t explain. Fine FS once again, I may have liked the Nigerian version better, but this isn’t far as well.

Bottle found at the Excalibur store on the Czech/Austrian border. Black, beige head that went away fast. Yoghurty, dried figs, light alcohol, ok enough nose. Bitter malty taste, bit roast, smooth dried figs again, maybe some alcohol. A pleasant enough stout and a far cry from Guinness Draught and similar crap.

I agree with the previous poster who commented that this is Guiness on steroids. Big chocolate flavor that isn’t afraid to let you know it it there. It is, however, a bit overbearing as not much beyond that and a dry finish show through. Either way, it was a fun thing to drink on a cruise this summer.

12oz bottle bought from Guinness in Dublin. Wish we could get this in the states. I bought this after the tour and brought it back to the hotel for a night cap. This is a totally different beer than regular Guinness on tap. The looks and aroma are similar, but the Foreign Extra Strout is much more hops. The taste is like a regular Guinness (tap) on steroids. Finishes nice, with a chocolate and coffee flavor.

After many days of Puerto Rican light beers, I finally saw this beer in St.Martin. Why can’t we get this in the US? This is a dark beer with a big fluffy beige head. Big nose of molassess and burnt grains. Big, chewy mouthfeel. Burnt grains, sweetened coffee, burnt toast, molassess and charred wood are all noticable in the flavor. The finish has a long, grassy bitterness to it. I hides the ABV well. My buddy, who likes the regular Guinness alot, couldn’t get through his.

330ml bottle, London Pours a fluffy sizeable latte coloured head that leaves clumpy lace and dies down to a persistant fingerworth. Body is jet black with ruby highlights. Rich roasted nosel uced coffee, charred wood, tar, slight leafy hop spice. Quite high carbonation, metallic drying texture is somewhat blended with a rich body. Excellent roasted malt profile; bitter chocolate, black coffee, tar, charred notes of wood and earth, some hop character also leeches through; bitter orange and leaf. Metallic bitter finish, with plenty of gusto. Quite typical Guinness flavour but with more body to let the flavours thrive and bitterness get soaked up in.

33cl brown bottle, label a little different from the one in the picture (abv as stated above, brewed in Dublin). Similar in design to the "other" Guinness Extra Stout ("Continental Version") - but very different beer! Almost pitch-black, impenetrable colour - big brown head with generous lacing. Sweet aroma of caramel, coffee and dark fruit - uncommon for a "Guinness" brew. Very low carbonation, thick and oily mouth feel, medium body. 65kcal per 100ml - my, oh my! No wonder then that there is a distinct chocolate note, but also fruit and a healthy coffee-ish bitterness. None of the coal-like aftertaste that makes the original "Guinness" so awful! Drunk at 10°, the many flavours come off very well indeed - this is an excellent, multi-faceted stout which fans of that particular style will find hard to resist. The best "Guinness" brew I’ve tasted so far.
