Sep 8, 2008 Bottled, BB 12/1/08 thanks to Craig.. brewed in Ireland. Poured deep brown with a creamy cap of medium tan head. The aroma picked up charred chocolate and oaky notes upfront with what was either piney hoppage or some sort of maize-ey adjunct.. either way I enjoyed it. The flavor was on the bright end with coffee and toffee notes joined by milkier chocolates and syrupy caramel.. bitterness was high and not easily identifiable.. lasted through a longer finish. Medium-bodied and sharper on the palate with moderate, well-done carbonation.. good to begin with, but not too enjoyable at the end.

Sep 4, 2008 2008 Bottle in St Martin - Pours oily black with a small brown head - aroma is all toasty malt, smoke...flavour is strong, alcohol and taste...burnt malty bitterness on the front end, light burnt and roasty dry fruit on the back end...a nice brew thats hard for me to find in the states...

Aug 27, 2008 Wow- I like Guinness but I really liked this brew. Had from bottle at a crappy hotel in boston area. This is the only good thing about this stay. Nice smokey flavor - nice bitter kick. very nice surprise for my 50th rating!

Aug 22, 2008 Bottle 330ml from Waitrose, Christchurch. Pours black with a good beige head. Aroma has a distinct molasses background. Reasonably full bodied. Much better than its traditional cousin.

Aug 21, 2008 Pours a dark opaque black colour with a small brown head. Taste is chocolatey, noticeable pepper and black cherry flavors. Aroma is sort of woody with hints of black licorice.

Aug 11, 2008 Botella. Pitch black colour with a nice light brown head. Good lacing. Nice soft mouthfeel. The flavour has a very good soft roasty maltiness with some bitter chocolate and light coffee.

Pours almost black with slight red edges. A fine, creamy, beige-yellow head. Great lacing. Aroma is sweet roasty, some nuttiness and a bit of plums. Good mouthfeel, dry and creamy. Flavour is surprisingly dry, harsh roasted notes, a bit vinious. This is a good brew, but nothing exceptional.
