GuinnessGal (59), Virginia, USA Jan 19, 2008 Updated: Feb 1, 2008My favorite Guinness product after trying it in Ireland this year. The flavor tastes of coffee like all Guinness but there is something else that makes it even more delicious! Wish it was sold around here! Allen (1285), Switzerland Jan 15, 2008 Updated: Mar 19, 2009Bottled 33cl. It pours a pitch black beer with a brown head. Beautifully ruby colored when held to the light. The nose has a strong character of roasted malt with notes of pumpernickel, tobacco, apples, plums and vanilla. The taste is of roasted malt, apples, vanilla, smoke, plums and raisins. A nice bite to the flavors. Strong taste. Some oats in there. Full of character. Extremely nice smoky dry finish which reminds me of a good single malt. Very drinkable. Initial rating: 6/5/7/4/14. Rerate: Appearance: Very beautiful. Great lacework. Aroma: Metallic. Hints of marshmallows, apples, vanilla, pumpernickel and compost. Flavor and palate: Cherries, pumpernickel, marmite, apples, marshmallows and raisins in the taste. Very salty. Remarkably dry woody finish. Overall impression: Dissapointing. weaselkenievil (738), Cheshire, England Jan 15, 2008 I always wondered why the Irish were so drunk. They’re only drinking Guinness and it’s pretty poor. Then I remembered this. Haven’t see it on sale round my way for years. I used to drink this as a fledgling alky like 15 years ago. I thought at that age I was just a drunken hooligan, cool I had taste. I’ve fallen in love all over again. Smells like the McVities factory in Levenshulme, used to buy this from an offy just round the corner. Black as my ex’s heart, with an off white head (not her the beer). Irish jungle juice and no mistake. I love this stuff and will be rekindling my love affair with the old foreign extra to be sure so it is. Ramenen (453), San Salvador, El Salvador Jan 14, 2008 Drank it in Paradise (local restaurant) that brings beers during holiday season. Guinness is great to drink anywhere even in El Salvador. Pours the classic, deep brown color with a beatiful tan head. Beefy, coffee, chocolate, delicious.... fattibobatti (246), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jan 12, 2008 had a friend bring me a bottle back from his trip through europe. pours pitch black with none of that heavy carbonation like stock guinness. large tan head that fades fast. very strong smell of malt and a little coffee. the taste is big heavy malt that fades into a dry coffee and a little dark chocolate finish. did a good job of hiding any alcohol. oops forgot to rate first time... davegore (200), liverpool, Merseyside, England Jan 7, 2008 Pours as black as black can be, slightly off white head, very strong series of flavours, coffee, heavy malts, dark chocolate, coffee, espresso...covers so many bases. Is this really the same brand even that is sold in pubs on tap??. Very special. redgold07 (308), Irving, Texas, USA Jan 4, 2008 Pours almost jet black with a milk-chocolate colored head. Aroma is of coffee and roasted malt. Taste is delicious... with flavors from caramel, to roasted coffee, to coffee and oaken flavor as well.
1 pt. 6 oz. bottle. BlackForestCO (819), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Dec 29, 2007 Updated: Feb 13, 2009Poured from a bottle. Poured a deep brown color with ruby highlights and a nice tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and some coffee. Flavor is mostly roasted malts, with some chocolate and coffee, and a bit of bitterness and nuttiness on the finish. Pretty nice.
