polomagnifico (532), Saginaw, Michigan, USA May 10, 2007 Updated: Oct 15, 2007330ml bottle. Aroma is mod/heavy burnt molasses and coffee. Large rocky, creamy, mostly lasting light brown head. Black except for dark red/amber just at the edges. Moderately bitter and salty with an average finish. Palate is light to medium body with a soft carbonation. A very good stout that surprised me since I can’t stand American draught Guinness. After a week in Curacao drinking polar and amstel this was an awesome find on the last day. Why can’t I just find this stuff in the states!! garthicus (1216), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 23, 2007 Updated: Nov 10, 2007I just cannot rate this beer on its own merit, pours flat, aroma is tasty but the taste and aftertaste is awful, I cannot see anything positive about this beer

Malt and coffee nose, initial sour bite which soon melts into a coffee finish, small but stable head, very enjoyable SETANTA (581), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 23, 2007 Very sweet compared to regular extra stout... very similar to Dragon Stout from Jamaica theisti (1640), Leawood, Kansas, USA Apr 16, 2007 Bottle, at csbosox KC tasting 4/14. Bottle provided by csbosox, thanks Chris! I had wanted to try this one for awhile, and I pretty much begged Chris to pull it out of his cellar. I owe you for this one! Pour is black, with very thin tan head. Aroma is boozy, with some roast coming through. Taste is sour, with a bunch of carbonation, which surprised me after the pour. Throughout the taste, this one is hot alcohol. The finish has some tangy sweetness. A very unique brew, this one had a flavor profile I hadn’t seen before. PilsnerPeter (2598), Flushing, New York, USA Apr 3, 2007 Bottle: Extremely dark brown pour with a thick and creamy light brown head. The lacing is solid and thick. Aroma is decent with lots of chocolate syrup and licorice. The body is fairly creamy. Has subtle dark chocolate flavors upfront. Middle develops lots of licorice and salty flavors. Some metallic flavors are evident as well, leading to a roasty, bitter and salty finish. Overall it’s extremely salty, and not too quaffable. smhncabot (310), Cabot, Arkansas, USA Mar 30, 2007 pours the typical black with khaki head. aroma roast, expresso, black currant, and a hint cocoa. taste is much the same with a hint of the guiness tang and bit spice to the finish. this is better and more bold than the extra available in the states. matta (1137), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 17, 2007 Rating #1040
Had a few bottles of this while cruising on Royal Caribbean to and from the Bahamas.
This beer immediately struck me as being different than the Guinness Extra Stout that I drink here in the States. There was more of a scotch like oaky-ness, vanilla, and rich robust coffee bitterness on the finish. Besides that, the ABV was noticeably higher… like said, kind of a punchy scotch ABV. Overall, I prefer this to my domestic version.
DrFantasmo (8), Lexington, Kentucky, USA does not count Mar 13, 2007 This poured a dark black. Bitter roasted with a bit of chocolate taste and some fruity flavor.
