cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Mar 7, 2007 The route to go if you want guiness, bitter roasted aroma, with a chocolaty bitterness with a slight spicyness
thisone326 (9), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Feb 28, 2007 Flavor is stronger than that of the draught...head not as cool looking..not as creamy and such. Dark look, well-rounded palate. tiny bit of bitterness, but nothing too bad motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic Feb 24, 2007 bottled. jet black with a lingering beige head. big whiff of asphalt. traces of stone fruit, pretty hefty burnt bitterness and a well-rounded palate. very tasty stuff porterhouse (1148), Alna, Maine, USA Feb 23, 2007 (330 ml bottle (lost my notes on this so have to wing it)) More sweet and syrupy, perhaps less roasty than Guinness Draught...Pours dark tobacco brown with one finger of caramel brown head. Aroma of dark bittersweet chocolate, coffee, light roast and molasses. Head feels creamy and mouthfeel is smooth, lightly prickly and slightly syrupy. Some sloppy rings of lacing. Taste is more molasses and coffee sweetness than other Guinness. Some roastiness but subdued in favor of sweeter qualities. Excited to see it, and best beer I found in Bahamas. Poperinge (359), Cowtown, Alberta, Canada Feb 20, 2007 Used to be able to get this in the bottle here in Cowtown but sadly no more. Bigger, Roaster, Fuller and a way better beer than the regular stuff. A great, complex beer from a big brewer............ CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Feb 2, 2007 Bottle sampled in June 2006: Pours a mostly opaque with dark brown edges and a thin, lightly-lacing tan head. Aroma of sweet milk chocolatey malt and a hint of smoke. Body starts with a nice sticky caramel and chocolate maltiness finishing drier and more roasty. Well-balanced and enjoyable with a fairly full palate. onlyrocknroll (218), Cork, Ireland Jan 25, 2007 It may not be as pretty as Guinness Draught but in all other ways it’s a far better beer. More hoppy, with a very rich mixture of roasted ground coffee, and decedent chocolate which lingers through to the finish. Hints of fruitiness which gives it a little interesting complexity. A very enjoyable beer.
