| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 1, 2006 Ruby highlighted black, lumpy thick tan head. Molasses aroma, bran muffins, dates. Full, lightly roasty flavor. Rum, kind of a chewy chalky quality. Alcohol apparent, but not aggressive. I’ve never met an FES I didn’t like. spkldhenlvr24 (453), Newburgh/Buffalo, New York, USA

Pours a jet black body with a large, foamy dark tan head. Decent lacing. Nice winey (merlot), roasted malty, molasses aroma with some deep lying dark fruit scents. Starts off very bubbly. Bitter, roasted mocha, coffee flavor. Smooth, medium bodied mouthfeel. Alcohol can be slightly felt, but doesn’t take away from the beer. Great finish. Very nice stout from Guinness. Much different than all the other IMO, I just wish I had brought back more than one home. axelmonster (1), Dublin, Ireland does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 27, 2006 Aroma: Very rich, bread, chocolate, coffee, roasty.
Apperance: Pitch black with a tan head.
Flavor: Medium to heavy bitter, small hint our sourness, a little sweet. Excellent.
Palate: Pretty smooth, not as silky as other guinness brews, very lively carbonation and a long, bitter finish
Overall: One of the best beers I’ve tasted, definately a favourite. I recommend trying it with a bit of dark guinness chocolate (available at the storehouse or at the online shop). JB175 (1663), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA

Dark pour with oddly bubbled head. Strong roasted flavor that seemed a bit different from regular Guinness. Taste was a bit sour, but pretty good once I got used to it. Stronger than regular Guinness for sure, as I got a very quick buzz. Overall, not bad, especially given the nasty Caribbean alternatives........ GarethYoung (1110), Glasgow, Scotland
