12 oz bottle from Ireland. Deep black colour, thick tan head. Aroma is quite nice. Coffee roastiness with some light sweet espresso and a bit of light sourness. A touch of molasses and some soft herbal bitterness. It’s quite simple, but it isn’t bad. Very heavy lingering roasty bitterness. OK

Huge vineous oaky aroma, with some great liquorice and burnt caramel notes too. Flavour is suprisingly roast, with quite a dry finish. Some darker fruit notes evident, along with some oaky character. Quite full bodied, and very tasty. Suprisingly, much more complex than the belgian version! ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Jul 19, 2005 Cameroon-edition. Dark brown body with a light brown head. Roasted malty aroma with a dark fruit sweetness. sharp bitter roasted malty flavor and a dry finish. Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Jul 18, 2005 Cameroon-edition, thanx to Joergen. Black colour with a baige head. Roasted alcoholic prun raisin aroma and taste. Medium to full body and a dry finish. joergen (8430), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 18, 2005 Cameroon-edition.
Bottled.
Dark brown coloured with a beige head.
Aroma of alcohol and chocolate with roasted notes.
Acidic flavour of coffee and prunes. ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia Jul 10, 2005 Bit apprehensive of trying this as I feel the last two Guinness stouts weren’t worth the price tags. Poured, from the bottle into a chalice glass just below cold, completely opaque, jet black, with a ½" dense tan head. Steadfast, the head lasted the distance and laced webs down the glass. Bitingly spicy, earthy nose, molasses, toffee and dark chocolate. Generous fruitcake wafts and a light woody note came through as it warmed. Dry and bitter, creamy mouth feel, medium-light in body and yet discernibly filling in the finish. Long liquorice and roasted malt swallow, yeasty across the tongue with a lot of mocha-coffee flavours filling all the nooks and crannies. The only true flaw is it’s astringency in the back that feels like choking on grain husks, but not as bad as it sounds! A lovely brew and the better of the Guinness stouts. Quite nice. MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Jul 7, 2005 A Mes rate:
Most pleased that they have this at asda up the road. I’m not really a fan of regular Guinness but this is much more like. Sugar cream and cookies in the nose. I really think it smells great. Like a tasty dessert. Typical Guinness looks. Pitch black with a good long lasting tan head and decent lacing. Palate is pretty much as good as anything. Velvet (yup i know its cheesy but thats how it is) and creamy. A strong smokey coffeee and roasted malt flavour with the extra good stuff clearly there but not offensive. Finish is lengthy and begins creamy but gradually turns bitter the more it goes on. Guinness with knobs on and much better for it. Magicdave6 (5400), London, Greater London, England Jul 6, 2005 First of al;l the appearance here, poured into my westmalle trappist glass, what a sight,. huge brown head, really good looking. Aroma is malty, coffee and burnt, maybe a bit too burnt for me. Taste however is Particularly malty, coffe, dark dark bitter chocolate with a little bready aroma/ taste coming through too. Defo one to have again, as at 7.5% isnt the strongest of stouts, but a very full flavour. Highly enjoyable.
