Commercial Description:
Higher in alcohol content than other Guinness products, this stout has a strong, oaky, complex flavor.

Editor’s Note: This is the standard FES. Sometimes it is imported from Ireland but more often it is brewed locally. This version is most common in the Caribbean and Africa. All versions from those places, save for Jamaica, Nigeria and Ghana should be rated here.

Aroma consists of heavily roasted malts (coffee/chocolate) and some cream or lactic essent. Opaque black coloured with a thin brown lasting head (not as creamy as the original guinness). Taste is heavily roasted malty, coffee/chocolate, again something creamy/lactic, quite bitter and too sweet. Even fruity this stout is. The palate is quite sticky.

A black beer with a chocolate brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of roasted bread and malt. The flavor is nicely roasted with notes of smoke and roasted bread. It really gives You the warmth - it is almost so thick that You have to chew it. A really nice beer.

Dark brown beer with a tall tan head. Bitter and dry malty and smoky aroma. Flavor is sweet to begin with but turns bitter hoppy. Also roasted malt, coffee and some smoke notes. Very flavorfull and a thick mouthful.

Deep brown, near black in colour, coffee coloured head. Aroma was of deep roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and licorice. Flavour had some alcohol coming through, roasty, quite bitter, chocolate, moalsses, dry with a slight sourness. Medium/large body. Finishes with a long lingering bitterness. Very nice.

Roasted coffee and treacle aroma, deep brown, pours a medium sized toffee head. Flavours of treacle, liquorice and coffee, and fruit cake. Medium bodied, bitter as can be. A fine offering! Thanks very much IPFreely!

Dark brown-black colour with a mocha head. Aroma and flavour are robust and roasty, with a dry and slightly sour finish. So much better than the regular Guinness it’s not funny...

Thanks goes out to Tim for hooking this one up. Appearance is a dark, basically jet black body. Frothy head accompanies. Aroma is robust roasted malt and some sweetness. Taste is bitter and sour, with some hints of coffee and roasted malt. Dry finish, followed with a heavy sour aftertaste. Interesting brew.

Black w/ creamy, light brown head. Roasty aroma of chocolate, molasses & brown sugar. Medium-full, creamy feel. Burnt cake-ish, roasty flavour of dark malts (dark chocolate, brown sugar), fruit (dates, raisins, prunes) & creamy butter. Also had a very mild sourness.
