Commercial Description:
Higher in alcohol content than other Guinness products, this stout has a strong, oaky, complex flavor.

Editor’s Note: This is the standard FES. Sometimes it is imported from Ireland but more often it is brewed locally. This version is most common in the Caribbean and Africa. All versions from those places, save for Jamaica, Nigeria and Ghana should be rated here.

Pours black with a brownish head. Aroma of butter and toffee. Flavour is a bit hoppy, with toffee and cocoa.

Bottle provided by a friend after his recent trip to Ireland. Dark brown color with a dark bone colored head. Great lace. Aromas of rye and pumpernickel. Scents of treacle and mild oak. Hints of sour mash. Flavors match aromas. Nice stuff. Nice complexity. What I remember Guinness being years ago.

Bottle in St Thomas. Pours jet black with a full tan head. Wonderful oak/vanilla aromas with some roasted coffee. Delicious complex flavor headlined by the powerful oak and vanilla, also has a bit of coffee to round out the roasted sweet flavor. Has a medium body, and a burnt woody finish. Wonderful beer, superior to the version found back home.

Bottle shared by Tmoney99. Poured a dark brown color with a small/medium beige head. The aroma showed hints of dark fruits, roasted malt, and a light burnt note. Overall, a little light for a stout. The flavor is much of the same and also a little light for a stout. Dark fruit, slight roast, and light bitterness in the finish. There was also a sour note. Could this have been a little old? Anyway, I’m glad I got to try this one once.

Thick and rich, malty and bitter. Full of flavor, always reliable. It is sweet, with cream, chocolate, and a bit of fruit; balanced by bitter burnt barley, coffee, soy sauce too. Good and reliable.

A very tasty variety of the classic Guiness stout. Hard to come by, but tasty. Bitter and flavorful!

Black. Rocky brown head, fluffy and 1 inch thick. Bitter chocolate, vanilla and roasted malt aroma with a hint of alcohol. Sweet and sour and bitter, quite vinous in flavor. Long tangy finish. Has that distinct black current Guinness note. Rather light bodied for the sweetness. Strange beer.
