COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Foreign Extra Stout is a beer like no other. The most full-flavoured of all. Singular and striking. Uniquely satisfying. Brewed with extra hops and roasted barley for a natural bite. Bitter and sweet. Refreshingly crisp. Always rewarding. Pure beauty. Pure GUINNESS.

Editor’s Note: This is the standard FES. Sometimes it is imported from Ireland but more often it is brewed locally. This version is most common in the Caribbean and Africa. All versions from those places, save for Jamaica, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana should be rated here.

Cant believe I’ve not rated this one yet. This one is imported from Ireland and is a month past its "best by" date. Bottle pours a dark brown with a full and dense light tan head. Light roasted aroma with tootsie roll and milk chocolate. More bitter roasted flavor but with plenty of sweet cola and chocolate again. Slight metallic trailer at the very end and some residual smokey bitter. Hides the 7.5% pretty well.

Dark nearly black with light tan head. Aroma is light roast coffee and ethanol. Roasty burnt-bitter flavor. Acetic bitter in the finish. Are these inconsistent? Did I get an "off" one? Perhaps if someone else is serving one of these I’ll try it again, but I’m not giving Diageo any more of my money. I remember it tasting better than this. Nice glass bottle, I’ll save that one for homebrews.

Bottle. Asda. Nearly black. Thick tan head. Dark fruit. Black treacle. Some woodiness. Light sour notes. Taste is metallic, tangy bitter, that lasts an age. Quite dry, too. Viscous palate. Finishes tart, dry, and very bitter.

Bottle, stable dense brown head, deep brown head with some red hues, aroma of dark chocolate with brown bread and cocoa, flavor of dark chocolate with some roasted notes, cocoa and chocolate cake, light pleasant bitterness, extremely smooth, medium bodied. Highly enjoyable stout.

I would say I prefer "classic" Guiness from Ireland, but this one is also good and reminds me the true one. Crafted is from far better though

Ottima Stout. Buona birra.

11.2oz. bottle from Cash Wise in Watford City. Appearance: 2 fingers dark brown head that lasts, dark brown-black color, great lacing, opaque. Aroma: roasted grain, chocolate, molasses, light grassy hops. Palate: medium-full body, soft carbonation, creamy and oily texture, bitter and dry finish, decent booziness. Taste: sweet malt, into boozy notes, then into a full bodied malt profile that turns roasted and slightly astringent, finishing with bitterness and light alcohol. Overall, palate is awesome, big tastes and aromas, very well balanced.

Poured from a bottle. Pours pitch black with a creamy tan head. Aroma and flavors of roasted coffee and chocolate. Probably my favorite Guinness they make.

650ml bottle served in a tulip. A: Pours a deep black color forming a nice and huge beige head. Fizzing carbonation going up and some lacings left around the glass. Medium retention but the head never disappears completely S: Good. Roasted malts. Coffee notes. Wood. Ginness hops. Alcohol T: As the nose, roasted malts, coffee notes, wood notes, dark chocolate notes, earthy hops. A sweet upfront and a roasted bitter (considerable) aftertaste M: Creamy body. Good carbonation. Sweet upfront. Molasses sensation. Aftertaste is dry and bitter O: Absolutely drinkable. Great beer. Recommended [ BA Review @ 6/23/2012 ]
