csbosox (978), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Mar 30, 2008 4/07 tasting. I picked up several of these while on port on a Carribean cruise. I had the Irish brewed version on the ship and it tasted the same. Aroma is roasty, with an acidic sour tang. Taste is sweet, roasty, tangy. Reminiscent of regular Guinness with more sweetness, more body, and a nice tang. Wonderful.
dunkpigen (306), Kolding, Denmark Oct 12, 2008 Pours black with a brownish head. Aroma of butter and toffee. Flavour is a bit hoppy, with toffee and cocoa. JPDIPSO (4286), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottle provided by a friend after his recent trip to Ireland. Dark brown color with a dark bone colored head. Great lace. Aromas of rye and pumpernickel. Scents of treacle and mild oak. Hints of sour mash. Flavors match aromas. Nice stuff. Nice complexity. What I remember Guinness being years ago. GMUcrew7 (208), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 7, 2008 Bottle in St Thomas. Pours jet black with a full tan head. Wonderful oak/vanilla aromas with some roasted coffee. Delicious complex flavor headlined by the powerful oak and vanilla, also has a bit of coffee to round out the roasted sweet flavor. Has a medium body, and a burnt woody finish. Wonderful beer, superior to the version found back home. alexsdad06 (671), Ohio, USA Oct 4, 2008 Bottle shared by Tmoney99. Poured a dark brown color with a small/medium beige head. The aroma showed hints of dark fruits, roasted malt, and a light burnt note. Overall, a little light for a stout. The flavor is much of the same and also a little light for a stout. Dark fruit, slight roast, and light bitterness in the finish. There was also a sour note. Could this have been a little old? Anyway, I’m glad I got to try this one once. As_a_Newt (73), blackpool, Lancashire, England Sep 26, 2008 nose is coffee, colour is dark with an off white head. Flavour is rich and smooth with a nice pronounced finish. Damn fine brew
