Dark black/brown, with a diminishing beige head. Fairly harsh taste initially. After a few sips however, my mouth grew accustomed and started to enjoy it. Smoothish, oily and chocolately creamy. A dry aftertaste, with a lingering bitter coffee taste. A pretty rich experience, which settles in and is relaxing and enjoyable. Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 13, 2008 Pours black with a small creamy light tan head. Smells a little fruity, with a good amount of roast and dark malt, and a distinct toffee aroma as well. The mouthfeel wasnt as thick as I thought it would be. The burnt malt and roast flavors were abundant with hints of dark chocolate coming through at the end. A touch of some hops comes through but not in abundance. Just decent, maybe could have used a bit more body. Crosling (1856), Loveland, Colorado, USA

Dark Brown.
Slightly astringent, burnt grain, molasses, chocolate, coffee, brown sugar and prunes in the nose.
Traditional dry stout characteristics throughout, just much bigger with notes of raisins, alcohol, chocolate, cocoa and prunes. Full bodied.
Wow, Guinness can make a good beer. What a surprise.
