Sep 26, 2007 Had this beer on 4/7/2007. Aroma is a mild toasted scent with very faint tones of hops. Color is a deep black with a good head that goes loose on the edge but seems tight in the center. Taste is crisp and bitter. Starting with medium body it goes down with a crisp feel that is a bit sharp on the sides of your tongue. Finish comes on with a mild roasted malt flavor that turns to a full bitterness that is backed by more toasted and burnt flavors. Its just not a very good stout. This is just a weak Stout.

Feb 5, 2004 My version had something wriong with it I feel. A very metallic bitterness that it just not pleasant. The nose is great with good earthy chocolate overtones but the taste is a real disappointment. Must try asnother elsewhere in my Asian travels.

Jun 14, 2005 Dense and plentiful foam, mighty persistent and skin tight. Black color, much somber and inscrutable. Decide and much strog scent, slightly hidden from a solid head- Notes of coffee, bitters chocolate and ash. Dry taste, much bitter and of very long persistence. Cocoa and coffee pips fragrance. Excellent length of smells and taste.

Dec 1, 2006 Ruby highlighted black, lumpy thick tan head. Molasses aroma, bran muffins, dates. Full, lightly roasty flavor. Rum, kind of a chewy chalky quality. Alcohol apparent, but not aggressive. I’ve never met an FES I didn’t like.

Aroma of vine,,werry malty, but enyway a bit thin nose(?)
Flavor is Vine,sugar,Coffee, and a bit sournes in it to. Thin to medium body, thin to medium finish.

Feb 11, 2004 Well there lads and lassies, let me tell you a tale of going to St. James Gate and having a private dinner with the Siklver Fom himself. Now you may wonder who indeed this may be, but let me tell you that all SO many years ago in the winterland of the eighties Guiness and Bass came upon us on draught here in this netherland and noe other that he Silver Fox from Said brewery was here to promote the affail; Not only that but many free pints were pouredd and my former wound up in the lap of said Fox. So I roll forwarsd to 1989 and I'm there at the brwwery and having dinner and who should sit next to me but himslef? Amazing. I decide that after drinking Guinness ALL DAY w/o a buzz I wil try the FES, To which the Fox say yes. I enjoy most completely ... and then want a nap.
