Commercial Description:
Higher in alcohol content than other Guinness products, this stout has a strong, oaky, complex flavor.

Editor’s Note: This is the standard FES. Sometimes it is imported from Ireland but more often it is brewed locally. This version is most common in the Caribbean and Africa. All versions from those places, save for Jamaica, Nigeria and Ghana should be rated here.

Bottle. Pours brown-ish black coloured with a big off white head. Aromas of molasses sugar, roasted malt, chocolate and honey. Flavours of caramel, roasted malt, coffee with sugar, chocolate and syrup. Sweet yet balanced brew.

A very tasty variety of the classic Guiness stout. Hard to come by, but tasty. Bitter and flavorful!

Now this was good -- hadn’t ever had the foreign version, but the extra alcohol kick gives this guinness a nice nose. The taste is still smooth and the palate crisp. A very nice "imperialized" guinness.

Sour, roasted malt taste. Very dark, but not quite opaque. Long lasting head. Minimal aroma. Nothing outstanding.

Porteresk toasty malt aroma. Almost jet black hue with a great light brown head and great lacing. Flavours of toasted malt coffee and chocolate, very dry and vary rich. Slightly soured so that its richness is not cloying. The best Guinness variant I have had.

Bottle. Black colour with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts. Similar taste with spicy and smoky notes.

Obviously better than guiness, but still pales to others of its type, such as Lion Stout. Macro taste permiates though the whole thing. Limited in complexity, but I will admit it has a nice malt body. Nothing out of the ordinary. Cheap though

Bottle- October 2005 Pours pitch opaque black with a big nice and frothy beige head that adequatly lasts as it leaves a beatifull lacing in Aromas is nice but at the same time is this brew´s weakest point IMHO. It´s something yeasty and slighltly coffee. Taste is where this beer shows itself, it is very intense roasty, i mean ROASTY but not unidimentional. You can feel the 7,5% but it doesn´t burn or anything. Mouthfeel is beatifull and filling, with a bitter aftertaste. This is what Guinnes should always taste!!
