Foreign Extra Stout is a beer like no other. The most full-flavoured of all. Singular and striking. Uniquely satisfying. Brewed with extra hops and roasted barley for a natural bite. Bitter and sweet. Refreshingly crisp. Always rewarding. Pure beauty. Pure GUINNESS.

Editor’s Note: This is the standard FES. Sometimes it is imported from Ireland but more often it is brewed locally. This version is most common in the Caribbean and Africa. All versions from those places, save for Jamaica, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana should be rated here.

Bottle. Been wanting to try this forever, finally available. Black and opaque. Strong carbonation. Rich, roasty aroma. Wow - this was worth the more than 15 year wait from hearing of it to trying it.

FTA. This is a reminder to self not to purchase it over and over again. Only Guinness I can drink is the one that comes form tap in at least England. All others are equal to Corona and other similar trademark names.

Sampled in Ireland with Linh, Scarlett and family. Pours a deep blackish brown body with thick tan head. Mouthfeel is medium with notes similar to other Guinness variants - light cocoa, soft roast and faint lactose/milk character. This seemed to have a bit more sweetness behind it.

Bottle at Brussels. Interesting but kinda old school but I guess that should be expected with an old classic. Full bodied, creamy roast coffee and barley.

Pours black with a really thick tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee and a little chocolate. Taste is of charcoal, peat, roasted malt, toffee with just a hint of bitterness.
