COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Foreign Extra Stout is a beer like no other. The most full-flavoured of all. Singular and striking. Uniquely satisfying. Brewed with extra hops and roasted barley for a natural bite. Bitter and sweet. Refreshingly crisp. Always rewarding. Pure beauty. Pure GUINNESS.

Editorís Note: This is the standard FES. Sometimes it is imported from Ireland but more often it is brewed locally. This version is most common in the Caribbean and Africa. All versions from those places, save for Jamaica, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana should be rated here.

Pours a clean black with a light brown head. Just the smell letís you know its not like a regular stout. You can smell the hops with the caramel. The taste is very similar. Hops with chocolate and a nice toffee behind it. A medium bitterness on the after taste but definitely more then normal for a stout. For an IPA drinker this is possible a very likable stout.

I could have sworn I tasted and rated this beer, but I was evidentially wrong. I purchased a four-pack at my local Wegmans and brought this delicious brew home to enjoy. The beer poured a pitch-black color with a dark tan head. The head laced all kinds of goodness around the inside of the glass. The nose is bright and full, with notes of cream, vanilla, sweet hops and a light hint of whiskey/alcohol. The body is quite big and full. You almost have to chew this beer. The alcohol content kind of sneaks up on you a little bit. The flavors include cream, chocolate, roasted barley, toasted bread, sweet malts, caramel and a hint of coffee. This is definitely a stout to savor and enjoy.

Bottle at home. Pours dark brown to black with a foamy tan head. Aroma is roasty with some dark chocolate also. Flavor follows and is very smooth. This is a very nice beer, better than the regular stuff.

Licorice aroma with moderate amounts of roast on the nose. Dark brown appearance with a thick tan head. Flavor is sweet with moderate bitterness on the end note. Fruity ester level is high. Medium full body with medium carbonation. Overall, it matches the style well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle in Germany. Clear, dark brown color, medium beige head. Aroma is nicely cocoa, roasted malt, toffee and coffee. Rather dry taste with a high bitterness. Aftertaste has some nice whisky-roasted barley notes, chocolate. Fresh carbonation, medium mouthfell.

Aroma is dark roast coffee and bittersweet chocolate. Roasted coffee, coca, vanilla bean, and caramel for flavors. Definitely more roasted and stronger than regular Guinness. I really enjoyed this one.

Bottle @ home. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Roasty and slightly fruity aroma. Lots of malts and a bit of mocha under it all. Definitely get some raisin notes. Flavor is roasted chocolate and dark fruits with a slightly sweet and creamy finish with a bitter aftertaste.

Pours a dark brown to black with a slight tan head. The aroma is very pleasant of the roasted barley. Its consistency is somewhat thick and oily leaving residue on the sides of the glass. It is smooth and slides over the tongue but much of the flavor is lost. Most of the taste comes after you swallow when the faint flavor of the roasted barley hits the back of your throat. It isnít harsh but lacks a fuller flavor that doesnít linger in your mouth for very long. It was OK but I would have preferred a fuller flavor.
