3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black pour, with a tall, rocky, tan head. The aroma is roasty and dry with some slight raisiny sweetness, a touch of brown sugar, oatmeal, a little semi-sweet chocolate and some peppery noble hops. The flavor is mildly sweet with a sort of muddled blend of dark fruits, semi-sweet chocolate, and oatmeal with a slightly bitter roasted malt finish. Very smooth a creamy body but a little on the thin side and the carbonation is soft but plentiful. Vast improvement over the terrible Draught.

One in a three part Guinness-off
A: Pours a dark, nearly black-brown ale with a three finger head of mocha color and loose meringue quality. This falls to a thick quilt of the same leaving spotty lacing.
S: Vanilla, clove, sweet and dark malts, maple, brown sugar, hints of cinnamon and butter. This has the best nose of the three IMO. Complex and nearly like a Dubbel.
T: Roasty, toasty and leaps and bounds ahead of the other two offerings from Guinness. This beer is yummy. Caramel, toasted bread, hints of bitter hops, nicely integrated hazelnut flavors. Finish is long and strong with the flavors.
M: Medium body with low carb. Dry finish. Nothing special here.
O: By far my favorite of the Guinness offerings here in the states. I dig it. Well balanced, great nose and flavor.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Better than their extra stout, this has a little more depth to it with a rich coffee taste that doesn’t have a lot of bitterness to it.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, black with a fine thin beige head, light red fruit tartness and coffee on the nose, umami dryness, burnt-bitter, hints of gravy and plum, some roast coffee and a sourish almost acrid bitter finish.

A black beer with a tan head. Very thick and creamy body, like a complete meal. Some coffee, dough and malts in the aroma and flavour. A bit bitter taste, but a very nice beer.

Finally had this brew in bottle at wob cap hill. Big malt up front. Way more than reg guinness. Still full bodied and smooth, but with a slight skunk taste which I’m not crazy about.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
330 ml bottle from Shinanoya @ Shibuya. Pours dark brown with a nice brownish head - and that head stays. Aroma is completely unbelievable - sweet dried dark fruits, roasted bread, melon. Love it! You get the same flavours also in taste - plus many more. There is some burnt bread, dried fig fruit - ending up in a long, bitter and dry aftertaste. I like this on much more than usual Guinness, too bad this one is not so easy to find! Will definitely drink it again!
