330 ml bottle purchased at the Westmere Beverage Center (Albany, New York) on September 18, 2012. Dark brown, small head. Sweet malted barley aroma, fudge notes. the taste is the same, with a touch of alcohol, bitter coffee. This is way better then the Draught!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
11.2 oz. bottle, consumed on 8-14-14. Weak aroma features scents of chocolate, Tootsie Roll, toffee, artificial chocolate, Playdough, and chocolate-covered pretzel. Pours a nearly black dark brown with a moderate amount of taupe head. Produces extensive, long-lasting, good lacing. Dry flavor dominated by roasted malts. Flavors of banana bread, tar, and caramel. Drier and more bitter in taste than the aroma suggests, but, upon multiple sips, it does sweeten to taste like that artificial chocolate that is present in the aroma. Typically English/Irish yeast strain evident in the flavor. Medium body. Smooth and lively in the palate. Overall, Guinness Foreign Extra Stout is reasonably enjoyable but too simple. Also, that cheap, artificial chocolate element in the aroma and flavor pulls it down. It definitely is a lot better than the more commonly consumed varieties of Guinness.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Purchased in a 33cl bottle and at 7.5%ABV. This is the version brewed in Dublin. The colour is black with a big tan head. Lots of roasted malts and a little caramel in the nose. The flavour is full and smooth with roasted malts dominating with hints of coffee. Slight metallic hints. The initial sweet caramel flavours fade fast leaving a long and pleasing bitterness. A brilliantly-made beer that does not have the complexity of some craft beer imperial stouts but is nonetheless a deeply satisfying drink.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(bottle - 330 ml) Dark brown pour with a tan head. Roasty and slightly fruity aroma. Lots of malts and a bit of mocha under it all. Definitely get some raisin notes. Flavor is roasted chocolate and dark fruits with a slightly sweet and creamy finish with a bitter aftertaste.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Transfer from BA review on 10-14-12-
Poured from bottle into pint glass
Appearance – Pours a deep-deep brown nearly black color with a thick tan head. The head has fantastic retention, very slowly fading over time to give a great level of lacing.
Smell – The smell is of sweet dark fruits and bitter roasted malt. There are other notes of a caramel sweetness as well as some aromas of dark chocolate.
Taste – The taste begins with roasted malt and some caramel and dark fruit flavor. The sweeter flavors lose some ground in the taste while the roasted flavors grow more and more bitter. Some light coffee flavor enters the profile with a bitter herbal hop flavor. This creates a quite roasted off bitter flavor at the end of the taste; a rather off aftertaste of these flavors lingers on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to just above average side in terms of its creaminess and has a carbonation level that is on the average side as well. The average carbonation is good at hiding some of the non favorable flavors at the end of the profile, but not great for the roastier flavors of the foretaste; which the body does a nice job of enhancing.
Overall – The taste and feel start out great, but that off bitter-herbal-roasted flavor that is left on the tongue really bring the brew down.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black with a foamy yellow-brown head. Sweet stout, a bit of raisin and light roast. Very light malt aroma, with some molasses. This is nice, and despite being stronger easier drinking that normal Guinness.

Actually I kinda like it. Nice dark and roasty, full head, pretty dry and bitter. Your best choice on the road in Africa!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A tall tan head sits on top of a thick pouring and very dark black body with deep garnet highlights. The head hangs on well and maintains a small covering on top of the beer as I drink. The glass holds on to some nice lacing as well. The aroma has dark roasted and toasted malt notes. Within this I get a hint of coffee, some sweetness a touch of something fruity and a very slight boozy note. Its aroma comes alive here on the tongue. The dark roasted malt brings a full bodied hit of toasted barley notes with sweet touches of toffee that play well off the slight sweet boozy notes. Holding the sweetness in check are some dark roasted coffee notes and mild hop bitterness. The palate has a creamy, slightly slick and full mouth feel and soft carbonation.
