COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Foreign Extra Stout is a beer like no other. The most full-flavoured of all. Singular and striking. Uniquely satisfying. Brewed with extra hops and roasted barley for a natural bite. Bitter and sweet. Refreshingly crisp. Always rewarding. Pure beauty. Pure GUINNESS.

Editor’s Note: This is the standard FES. Sometimes it is imported from Ireland but more often it is brewed locally. This version is most common in the Caribbean and Africa. All versions from those places, save for Jamaica, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana should be rated here.

Toasted aroma, black-ish hue with a large off-white head, toast, wood, nuts, coffee, super thick palate, rich chocolate aftertaste, excellent stout.

330ml bottle from Asda. (£1.25) This is very good. Rich coffee and chocolate. Yum! The slightly harsh finish is followed by a lovely warm glow. This is by far the best Guinness I've tasted. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Foam: nice light brown, medium lasting, lingers. Colour: very dark brown, opaque. Aroma: roasted coffee, dark chocolate, malt, caramel, fruit, vanilla, a hint of smoke. Taste: roasted sweet malty, chocolate first then some fruits, liquorice, little oily, dry smoky/roast bitter/hoppy long finish, medium carbonation, medium to high body, pretty good beer anyway.

Pours dark brown with a brown head. Dark and sweet from the nose. Thick flavored, like drinking chocolate but with a kick. Finishes with sweet cocoa and a bit of bitterness. I preferred this highly over a non-draft Guinness as it isn’t watery, though I have to admit that a properly poured Guinness is quite delicious.

Pours a dark brown with a proud, well-retaining light khaki head. I’m picking up a lot of chocolate and brown sugar glaze on the nose. Pretty thick with some faint carbonation. Liqueur-filled chocolate flavor. Finishes with unsweetened cocoa powder. Vastly different than any Guiness I’ve ever had. This one’s actually good!

Beautiful pitch black color. A little layer of creamy almond foam. Nice bitter toasted/roasted smell. It smells of nice barley roasted till perfection. It has however a little hint of iodine. You can also smell the alcohol. The taste is great. Smokey flavor of the roasted barley, combined with a perfect sweetness. This beer is in extraordinary balance. Almost better than regular drought Guinness.

Noget skuffende udgave af en Guinness Stout. Smagen og eftersmagen er helt som den skal være - mørk og brændt. Men konsistensen og oplevelsen virker for tynd som vand!

I’d been a "purist" as far as Guinness is concerned prior to picking this up, but a good friend insisted it was good so I gave it a whirl. Smell of toasted malt goodness, but kind of muted and watery. Taste is truly a work of beauty with coffee, chocolate, licorice and a light carbonated touch alongside the malts...much stronger flavor than the usual Guinness! Surprisingly quaffable and not super heavy for a stout. Slightly over-cabonated for my tastes, but is an excellent beer that I was pleasantly surprised by regardless. Very good.

Barring more obscure beers found at specialist suppliers this is my favourite alcoholic drink at the minute. Its quite potent and creates an immediate and lasting impression. Lovely burnt coffee aroma and taste with a lovely thick feel to it. If the head was more substantial I would give it full marks. Far superior to standard guiness and even better than the west Indies porter.
