COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by Arthur’s philanthropic legacy and devotion to generous, full-flavored beers, Guinness Generous Ale is special edition holiday beer that was developed in a traditional winter ale style, but with more body and the distinct roast for which Guinness Draught is known. With a rich amber appearance, the vanilla notes accent Guinness Generous Ale’s silky, yet vibrant taste.

Can. Ruby brown color with a good sized beige head that went down fairly quick. Once the head diminished the aroma was sweet fruity malt and mild medicinal hops. Flavor is creamy malt followed by dry, spicy hops and a creamy, smoky, bitter finish. Medium bodied with a very mild carbonation all combine to make this something Guinness has mastered; very smooth and easy drinking but still satisfying. Loved it.

Had in a can poured into a pint glass. Aromas of a cask ale with a slight hint of pumpkins. Pours a dark coppery brown with a signature beautiful, tan, fluffy head; the beer loses most of its carbonation over a short time. Tastes of a light brown smoked ale, with a bitter slightly dry finish. Drank both from a pint and a can. Good stuff!

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2014 Pours a deep red brown with an off white head that leaves "Generous" lacing. Nose is spice. The palate is medium body. The taste is slight roasted malt.

Pour from a can, part of a sampler 8 pack. Clear brown brew with tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, a little grass, a hint of roasted malt. Taste is sweet malt at the start, very rich, transitioning to a somewhat crude hoppy finish with bits of roasted malt coming through. Good palate. Enjoyable brew.

Guinness really ought to brew a batch of every beer style. Their approach to beer making is unrivaled, unmatched, unmistakably unique.

Bottle. Reddish amber pour with a small spotty head. Aroma is malty, herbal, grassy, hint of spice. Taste is kind of minerally with some strange spice. Not very good.

"A fairly typical amber type ale. Bready toasty slightly spicy hopped red. Not sure why this is a winter pack price. Luckily found a single not a 12 pack :)"

Bottle at a friend’s. Aroma is mostly malts with some subtle molasses and vanilla notes. Pours deep amber to brown with a light fluffy white head. Taste is malty malts with malt. Slight red velvet cake but mostly malt. I liked it.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber brown body under a small wispy off-white head. The nose is pretty nondescript, just some light caramel sweetness and just a bit of hoppiness. The flavor is fairly bland and boring as well, sweet caramel and toasty malt with a minimal floral hop note on the finish. Medium bodied with lots of fizzy carbonation. Just comes across and. Little too bland and boring.
