COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by Arthurís philanthropic legacy and devotion to generous, full-flavored beers, Guinness Generous Ale is special edition holiday beer that was developed in a traditional winter ale style, but with more body and the distinct roast for which Guinness Draught is known. Can @ home. Thanks, Boost. Cooper pour with a khaki head. Aroma is big on bread, toast, and grass. Not terribly fragrant. The flavor is just kind of toasty and grainy. Grassy and slightly bitter finish. A decent bit of bready malts. Ok.

Bottle from a SaveMart. Pours brown with a slight beige head. Mild caramel aroma. Med minus body. Flavor is roasty with a hint of ginger or some sort of spice. Very mild hint. Thereís some vanilla, I think. Give it this - there is a lot of flavor compared to the macro lagers. If it was the only thing available, Iíd drink it.

Bottle from the Winter sampler, from Harris Teeter Crozet. Pours a clear dark amber color with a large frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of nutty notes, toffee malts and a fruity finish. The taste is citrus, stone fruits, caramel malts, earthy notes, mild hoppy finish. Medium bodied. Solid beer.

Can @ home, thanks to MacBoost for this one off! Pours an orangish brown appearance with a foamy, brown head. The aroma is creamed corn, lemon, grass, and wood. Twangy lemon flavor. Moderate high sweetness, low bitterness. The flavor is metallic and lemony. Not too good.

Bottle. Reddish amber pour with a small spotty head. Aroma is malty, herbal, grassy, hint of spice. Taste is kind of minerally with some strange spice. Not very good.

Canned. Poured medium amber with a short-lived head. The aroma picked up lots of vanilla and nutty notes, with a bit of toasted character. The flavor found similar, picking up a little molasses.. more vanilla on the finish. Lighter-bodied with moderate-plus carbonation.. OK feel.

"A fairly typical amber type ale. Bready toasty slightly spicy hopped red. Not sure why this is a winter pack price. Luckily found a single not a 12 pack :)"

Tallahassee, Fl - Publix Supermarket - Mahan - 12 oz bottle - part of a holiday 12 pack mixer. Very dark copper pour, thick sticky khaki colored head - nice looking beer. Aroma is distant, pick up some brief unsweetened chocolate notes, a hint of vanilla. Flavor has some caramel notes, a nice underlying mellow citrus bitterness and a back end trace of vanilla. Mouthfeel has a nice thickness to it. Pretty solid.
