COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by Arthur’s philanthropic legacy and devotion to generous, full-flavored beers, Guinness Generous Ale is special edition holiday beer that was developed in a traditional winter ale style, but with more body and the distinct roast for which Guinness Draught is known. With a rich amber appearance, the vanilla notes accent Guinness Generous Ale’s silky, yet vibrant taste.

Bottle and rated on 11-17-2012. This beer poured a small, smooth ivory head that mostly diminished, fair amount of lacing, transparent body, slow-rising carbonation, and an amber hue. The Aroma is malty, caramel, notes of toffee, nutty, and vanilla. The Flavor is malty, caramel, notes of vanilla, and has a light hoppy finish. The Mouthfeel is lightly tingly and this is a medium bodied beer. Overall, this is a quaffable Amber Ale and a beer that I would consider drinking again.

Aroma is slightly roasted and earthy malts. The flavor is slightly sweet malts throughout and a hint of sugar. Similar to Guinness Black Lager, mild in flavor but not inoffensive.

Pours clear, wet copper-red with a full, frothy, off-white head. Scent is malt, a little caramel. Taste is slightly roasty caramel, a hint of vanilla. Slightly metallic bitter..Creamy and smooth. Truly not bad.

12oz bottle 11/14/12 (Dominicks) Winter Sampler-49° in English Pint-Pours a dark ruby red with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, toffee, and slight vanilla. Taste of the same with more malt and more vanilla. This medium bodied brew is not too shabby.

Pours a very pretty reddish brown. The head is thin and small but it’s well retained and leaves a nice little lacing on the glass.

The aroma is just sort of generically malty with some huskiness. Some of that roasty on stinky stuff I get from mass produced English style beers sometimes.

The flavor is not bad, a touch bitter... certinally malty but not overly sweet. Lots of husky grain with some mild fruity notes.

I would have been head over heels for this back in 03’

bottle. Amber with small head. Sweet with light malt, and slightly medicinal. I don’t know what else to say about this. Other than the slightly unpleasant flavor, It’s just extremely boring.

Single bottle purchase from Famous Liquors. Slight oxidation under cap that goes away after pouring. Pours a big, non-Guinnessy head over a deep brown body. General caramel malt smell with a note of Scottish peat; not a bad surprise. Mouthfeel a bit flaccid and watery at first, then there an aggressive hit of malt. Malts get deeper further down the glass, leading to a slight note of phenol; well, if this is their holiday beer, I’ve found it a bit past its prime.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear dark nut brown with a ruby hue and minimal head. Aroma of coffee, vanilla and christmas spices. Taste is light bitter. Coffee, spices abd a little vanilla. Medium bodied with a thin texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. Nothing to seek out but drinkable.
