COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by Arthurís philanthropic legacy and devotion to generous, full-flavored beers, Guinness Generous Ale is special edition holiday beer that was developed in a traditional winter ale style, but with more body and the distinct roast for which Guinness Draught is known. With a rich amber appearance, the vanilla notes accent Guinness Generous Aleís silky, yet vibrant taste.

Itís like Guinness Foreign Extra Stout that has been kicked in the balls. The obligatory Guinness creamy mouthfeel is replaced by a fizzy, meandering consistency. There isnít that special pop from the Extra Stout, either. The Generous ale comes off as more of a seasonal phone-in than an artisan offering. Still, itís perfectly mediocre rather than awful.

Irish session stuff through and through. Though really more of a Brit bitter actually. Reddish brown, malts dominate nose and taste, a bit of caramel malt helps. Okay.

12oz bottle from Guinness holiday variety pack. Poured into pint glass, clear ruby-ish brown color with minimal off-white head. Aroma of toasty caramel malt. Taste is the aroma balanced with some decent grass hops. Light body, average carbonation, smooth, balanced, some lingering grass afterwards. Decent.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2014 Pours a deep red brown with an off white head that leaves "Generous" lacing. Nose is spice. The palate is medium body. The taste is slight roasted malt.

Moderate bitter sweet malt aroma. Dark amber color with a medium white head. Some weird egg smell right before taking a sip. Mild sweet throughout with a very light bitterness that builds in the finish.

Bottle. Dark amber red color. Thin off-white head. Aroma of malts and bread. Flavor is watery malts. Not much character. Like a thin red ale. Thin in body. Not much there for me, but not terrible.

12oz bottle. Filtered looking amber-red-tan body, this lacy off-white head. The aroma is not so impressive, factory dry lifeless toffee. A sort of boring, mineral-dry amber- brown ale. Not really up to Guinness standards, this is sort of tame and uninspired. Medium bodied, drinkable, but all around unappealing.

Odd aroma of funk. Deep brownish amber in color with no foam. Hoppy flavor upfront with a milky/vanilla taste on the finish. Overall, this is very basic. Just hops and vanilla flavor.

Pours Dark Brown into an English Pint Glass. Small tan head that dissolves quickly but a little lingers around. Sweet Malt aroma. Medium body with some slightly bitter roasted barley. Dry Finish.
