Draught at OíNeills, Dublin. Near black, rich creamy head. Mildly roasty nose. Dryish, creamy and light bodied. Some roasty coffee - a bit diluted compared to Guinness Draught, but still functional. Good for a low alcohol.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Can. A big, light beige head forms over a reddish dark, dark brown body. Soon diminishing into a thin, creamy layer. Rather weak on the nose, roasted mostly, some coffee and dried fruits in the back. Roasted flavor, a rye bread touch and some dried fruits. Very watery on the palate, creamy and soft. Roasted, bitter finish. A decent one considering the strength, but way, way too watery. 120819

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tap at PJís, Carlingford, 26/01/13.
Light black with a good sized light tan/off white head that retains very well. Excellent lacing ensues thereafter.
Nose is very muted - not a lot to note! Malt, grain, barley, light metallic notes.
Taste comprises light roast malt, mineral tones, barley, grain.
Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finish.
A far blander version of the not exceptionally flavoursome original!

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: SEP 20, 2012 Canned 26/04/12. A dark mahogany coloured beer with a widgeted thick creamy off-white head. A dry roasty aroma like its big brother. A similar taste too; maybe a bit more watery. Itís not obviously only 2.8% and is actually quite pleasant all things considered. Score 2.9
Subsequent ratings scored 2.7 and 2.9. Average becomes 2.8
