3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I love Guinness but this Original in bottled form is probably my least favourite way of drinking it. Seems a bit gassy and watery compared to even say the Draught can. Still unmistakably Guinness though.

Una delle migliori stout in circolazione. Ricetta collaudata e sempre buona anche se variano temperatura e stagione.

Part of a three part Guinness-off.
A: pours a deep brown ale with 1.5 fingers of peanut colored head. This clings to the glass as it falls over a couple minutes to a tortuous sheet of the same. Good, cobweb lacing.
S: caramel, copper, roasted malts, sweet malts, hints of earthy hops. Hints of nougat.
T: Subdued hops of earthy nature, and a nice hearty backbone of malts are here. Plenty of earthy, soily malts are prominent. Hints of vanilla on copper, too much copper.
M: Heavy body with moderate carb. Dry finish causes me to want to hawk loogies.
O: Not really enticing to me. The flavor is too metallic, the mouthfeel is off.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A black beer with a tan head. Very thick and creamy body, like a complete meal. Some coffee, dough and malts in the aroma and flavour. A bit bitter taste, but a very nice beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: pours like a traditional Guinness Extra Stout, North American version--the usual dark brown pour with a rocky, foamy dark tan head. Aroma: roast dominates, with a hint of wet granite and a surprising nutty note. Taste: bittersweet dark chocolate, roast coffee, slightly burnt nuts, toasted black bread. Finish: slight minerality and lingering roasty notes, with a hint of herbal hops. Notes: There was a palpable difference between this and all the other Guinness varieties I’ve tried. Namely, the slight nuttiness and a bit of mineral water character in the finish. Extreme drinkability was of course consistent. Cool, fat screwtop bottle brought back from Scotland by Zoltan.
