Opaque pour with that fantastic creamy head that lasts the whole pint. This stout needs an appropriate pour to fully enjoy the taste and look. I prefer the Extra Stout version hands down but it is a decent commercialized stout beer. Burnt chocolaty and malt aroma. Good full bodied beer I enjoy on a rainy day!

Canned, almost black coloured beer with a creamy medium brown head. Roasted bitter caramel malty aroma with a full palate. Finish is bitter, creamy roasted malty touched. Nice.

Bottle. As mentioned, this is not the beer it was before they began to pasteurise it. Pours dark mahogany, with a frothy and short-living head. Chocolate and roasted malt on the nose, and similar on the palate with overtones of yeast.

Pours black with a tan head that disapates. Tastes of malt, however not a strong taste. Extremely drinkable due to the lack of depth. 1Pint 6oz. bottle

Bottle. Unfortunately it’s no longer available in its bottle conditioned form when it was a match for any beer. Pours very dark with beige head that lasts down the glass. Aroma is an immediate hit of burnt malts with a bit of treacle, coffee and hop thrown in. Intensely bitter on the tongue, the mix between malt and hop is near perfect. For all its carbonation it is a remarkably smooth drink. Very dry in the finish. I must try to find the Irish unpasteurised version.

Malt, roast, lots of water. Burnt aroma and flavor. Thin, not very interesting or enjoyable. It is what it is.
