On tap, Turf Tavern, Oxford, RB Pub crawl 08. Deep russet colour with huge beige head. Not a huge aroma, a little bit of fruit, lots of nitro smoothed out flavour, slight tang on end. Some creamy red fruit. Not a huge flaovur, mouthfeel is obviously lacking. It’s ok, but very bland.

Sold as Corcoran’s Celtic Red in an Irish pub in Winterberg (!). Tap. Malt, biscuit and nutmeg in the aroma. Bittersweet, malty, biscuity flavor with some earthy hops and raisin. Not too bad.

Nitrokeg at The Easington, Banbury. Reddish brown, gassed, white head. Musty, damp aroma leading to a cardboardy, wet carpet type of flavour, almost fungal. Some roasted notes in a general malty body, but quite poor overall.

A Sim rate (draft at the Turf Tavern): Smells slightly creamy and sweet... and bit like cream cheese. Very porter-like. Cherry and slightly metallic. Decent, actually. Nothing to write home about, but better than the watery British golden beers I’ve been drinking all day.

Draught O’Neills Northampton. A nitroed dark ruby coloured beer with a whitish head and thick lacing. A malty fruity clean and pretty tasteless beer brewed for those who know no better. Nothing to harm but boring.

Keg, The Last Plantagenet, Leicester. Black with red tints and a dense cream head. Aromas are very light roast malts with some cream. Flavours are basically Guinness light. Very non-descript and served at freezing point.

Pours with an enormous guinness nitro head, colour is more brown with a hint of red coming through if you put it to the light, unlike the phots you see which look like an alcopop. There is no aroma. Taste is a touch of spicey yeasty, touch of plastic, i cant find to much malt character, but theres alot of sugary sweetness hidden behind raw bitterness. The yeasty flour is weird i cant figure out what it is, i wald the mile home by the Tennants factors to try and figure it out and all i have now it dry chapped lips from the amount of sugar used. Not really my deal, but probably better than Guinness draught these days.

Draught. Not much flavour. Watery, with the same old crappy creamy Guinness thing. This had NO flavour. I can’t say anything more about it.
