Very strong smell of malt (which has been roasted) and alcohol, sweet brown sugar, a little bit like an Irish Coffee. Pours a big creamy dark brown head in my mug, the body is as black as it gets. The first sip - don’t really want to destroy the nice head but anyway - the creamy head remains intact. Heavy bitterness and a long duration on the palate. Very creamy texture, full body and a flat carbonation.
Very good and strong stuff, it’s really a replacement for a breakfast. Should soon travel again to the Dutch border to get me another one... Enjoyit (1712), Vadum, Denmark

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 13, 2007 Appearance: very dark brown color, maybe black. Great head, rocky, of beige color, dense and very persistent. Good look.
Aroma: sweet chocolate, high roasted malts, grains coffee, black olives and presence of hoops. Herbal, candy and toffee touches. Fruitiness of sweet-ripe plums, berries and figs. Some metallic; spicy notes of vanilla, clove, cinnamon and nutmeg. Liquory and relatively complex.
Flavor: very intensive toasty, bitter chocolate, roasted sugar and grain coffee. Fruitiness of peaches, berries, figs and dark olives; moreover, bitter-fruity of peel yellow grapefruit. Sweet barley start; with ultra-toasty finish that adding a persistent and intensive dryness, that is strengthened for the hoops. Liquory like fernet and coffee’s liquor, however, the sweetness hidden the alcoholic degree. Reminiscences of purple- bitter olives. Too clove and vanilla touches.
Palate: medium body; very creamy, silky and velvet texture (maybe for barley un-malted). Low carbonation.
Exquisite texture, very nice and intensive bitter-toasty. Sammy (3993), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 26, 2007 Thank you Abusmaster. Jet black with substantial off-white creamy head. Good malty and licorice and roasted barley aroma. Taste is dry and bitter, with diesel fuel and smoke at the end of the bottle. Easy creamy mouthfeel while you absord this dry stout, Certainly better than any Guinness I have had, rudolf (1767), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 17, 2007 Very creamy head, nice lacing. Nose is rich toffee, cocoa notes, some dark cherry & tobacco, rummy qualities, brown sugar, maybe a twinge of alcohol. Flavor is toffee, cocoa, brighter tobacco & cherry than the nose suggests. Maybe a bit of yeast. Slightly spicy cocoa & tar finish. Allen (1349), Switzerland

A good foreign stout with plenty of character.
