Black color, large long-lasting creamy tan head, good lacing; roasted malty nose, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, smoke, syrup; taste initially medium sweet, followed by strong bitterness and less sweetness, resulting in lasting bittersweet sensation (chocolate, coffee) with hints of dark fruits; medium to full body, creamy texture, sof carbonation; bittersweet taste lingers on in finish

2.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark almost black pour with medium sized head wich is a bit of a let down compared to regular draft Guinness. Yeasty smell with a hint of coffee and chocolate bitter. Taste is beautiful chocolate and coffee bitters. Bitter lingers on nicely. Mouthfeel is thin, but that I expected. Much better than the standard Guinness but it lacks body. Still an Okay beer.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2014 27.09.2013, 0,33l bottle shared with Palme @ hotel in Amsterdam:
Nice slightly brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is kind of neutral, slightly sour-ish roasted, dark malts, caramel, dark sugar, chocolate, coffee, cardboard, butterscotch. Taste is dark malts, hops, burnt caramel, butterscotch, cardboard, grass, bitter chocolate, hay, coffee. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Pretty boring.

Bottiglia da 33cl. Color ebano con buona schiuma di grana media color nocciola di media persistenza. Al naso note du malto tostato con un fine cioccolato. Al palato inizia con un bel tostato che lascia spazio a caffè, cioccolato e fruta matura.

Bottle. Pours murky black with huge foamy brown head. Aroma is heavy roasted malt, hints of camp fire smoke, milk and overripe plums. Taste is very rich with initial sweetness then heavy bitter, medium sweet and light acidic. Body is oily and mouthfilling with crisp carbonation. Finish is very long and rich with notes of coffee, sweet licorice, gravy, dark fruits, toasted bread, Sunday roast. This is a classic beer, but the aroma is a bit vague compared to the taste and finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a very dark, coffee-like color with a brown, creamy head which fades quickly. Smells of coffee, but sweeter, and like ... trappist beer, I guess. This stout is low on carbonation, ensuring a nice and smooth mouthfeel, allowing the drinker to taste this brew really well. Taste of plums and sweetness, then coffee/mocca, chocolate and roasted malts. Bitter aftertaste which once again reminds of coffee. Very enjoyable!

Once the stout to judge all other stouts by and since surpassed by those upstart craft brewers. Nevertheless, a classic and the best of the Guinness offerings. Short lived head, black as your hat, roasted malt and all the other stuff. Fabulous bitter finish. My other half mistook this for ordinary Guinness and couldn’t drink it, poured it down the drain and replaced it with that inferior Foreign Export Stout. We’re still together...
