Bottle shared thanks to Deanso. Very dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of caramel, oxidized notes, toffee and malt. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with big alcohol warmth in the finish and soft carbonation. [23-08-2016]

From 0,33 L bottle, pours deep black with light-brown, stable head. Aroma is full of liquorice, roast malts, dark bread, hops are also slightly recognizable. Taste is heavy malty, toasted, slightly sweet, it gets bitter in the middle with time leading to a medium bitter, quite long malty-bitter finish. Creamy, thick mouthfeel, with soft carbonation and a medium to full body. I really like it, thats how a stout has to be in my opinion, malty, roasty with a good balance between sweetness and bitterness, It’s a bit thicker than the Guinness draught.

Olhão 18/7 2016. 33 cl bottle from Oriente Modelo Supermarket. Yellow label with the characteristic harp. Declarations of "Genuine Quality" and "Special Export". Makes you wonder why beers with a high ABV is often "Export Beers"? Are the Brewers afraid that people at home will actually get drunk? So they have to send the strong beer out of the country. Pours opaque dark brown with light beige head. Head is kind of dense but settles as flimsy thin layer of foam. Moderate lacing. Aroma is sweet with chocolate, coffee, roasted dark malts and a whiff of alcohol. Some more subdued bitter notes. Soft carbonation and thick creamy palate. Flavor is intensly sweet and a bit sugary followed by light bitterness. A quite heavy fellow which would fit in nicely on a could day in December. A bit misplaced in Portugal in 30 degrees.

Bottiglia.

Black colour, average head, slightly off-white, decent persistence, some lacing. Aroma has caramel malts, milk coffee and red fruits. Taste is on the sweet side with a slight hint of bitterness in the finish: buttery/milky sweetness, a light hint of roasted malts, slight red fruits, liquorice. Medium body, almost flat, decently creamy. Easy, and easily forgettable.
