Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours hazy golden with a huge creamy off-white head. Aroma of malts, dark dried fruits, prunes. Taste is caramel with a slightly alcoholic touch, not burning, more sweet and pleasant. Nice.

When I drink this beer the first thing that comes to mind is the Toronado Pub in S.F. Amazing aroma, sweet fruity. Glowing orange. Taste is raisins, dates, candy sugar, and some mustiness. Flavor of raisins, toffee, caramel, yeast, dates, dried strawberries, apple, and brown sugar. Sweet savory alcohol really makes it pleasurable.

Pours a deep medium amber with delicate hues of dark red with dark orange producing a thick head with good retention. Big aromas of fruit (plum, fig, apricot), banana, bread, caramel. Flavors of slight alcohol, plum, coriander, clove, lightly yeasty/bread, slight cherry. Leaves a slight grain, bitter aftertaste, and just a trace of alcohol. Medium sweet. The alcohol comes through only in flavors but just enough to be a turn off, yet the other complexities still come through well if left to sit on the palate.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sigmund (4222) - Tau, NORWAY - MAY 10, 2013
Shared 330 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 10.5%. Deep golden to amber colour, moderate off-white head. Classic Belgian dubbel & quadruple aroma, notes of brown kandij sugar, dark dried fruits and mild spices. Same elements in the flavour, easy drinking for a quadruple.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mathieuc (284) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 8, 2013
Pours a really dark gold with a nice and civilized head that sticks heavily to the sides of the glass so +1 for appearance. Aroma is a bit fruity with a lot of spices but nowhere as intense as I thought it would be (the original Gulden Draak is/was quite potent). Taste is medium sweet with a lot of fruity esters making up the flavor and not much bitterness to be felt. Alcohol heat is quite apparent, though. Mouthfeel is not bad with prickly carbonation making the product a bit brighter. Overall an OK belgian beer but one that ultimately fails to touch me just like its older brother....

Didn’t even know this existed until seeing it on the Yard House tap list. Overall: sweet caramel, a hint of spice, fruity esters, warming alcohol, slightly dry finish. Very similar to "normal" Gulden Draak.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 yngwie (10761) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAY 4, 2013
Bottle, 33cl. It pours a dark golden color, lighlty unclear, and topped by a dense, finger-thick off-white head of finger-thick size. Dried fruits, apricots mostly, cellar notes, burnt dust, some alcohol, sugar and bourbon vanilla in the aroma. Quite sweet on the palate, pleasantly carbonated, with flavors of dried fruits, sugar, vanilla and some hints of cellar and alcohol. Not much warming on the palate. Finishes with a pleasant bitterness. Nice indeed, but sort of feels ordinary. Perhaps the regular Gulden Draak is better. 120914
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 reebtogi (3267) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 3, 2013
330ml bottle pours an amber orangey color with a 2 finger white head with excellent retention which leaves some exceptional lacing on the glass. Aroma is light fruits with some hints of yeast and alcohol. Taste is a caramel malty and fruity sweetness with quite a hoppy bitterness and alcohol burn in the finish. A medium to heavy body with abundant carbonation leaves a nice prickle on the tongue. A very well done quad that begs to be tasted.

Pours a hazy copper with white head. Aroma is yeasty, pepper, malt, atiny bit of peach. Taste has some sweetness, fruity, again some pepper, light grassy notes, alcohol is present, lots of phenols. Almost full body and medium carbonation. Pretty good.
