Gulden Draak, lonely at the top for 25 years, now gets company
The birthday present: Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple, an enrichment of the Gulden Draak range.
An ode to the past and to the city of (9000) GHENT The Gulden Draak is named after the gilded statue on top of the belltower of Ghent. Such eminent symbol, that has been standing firm for over 6 centuries, deserves equally grand beers. The unsurpassed Gulden Draak as dark tripel of 10,5% alcohol gets, after 25 years of growing success, quite an addition, the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple.

All features of the Gulden Draak The extremely rich and complex taste sensation and the stable beer head can also be found in the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple. The sweet caramel touches, however, are still reserved for the Gulden Draak.

With addition of extra malt The new recipe, on basis of 3 different kinds of malt added in a volume of 4 times the content in lager, provide the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple with a deep golden amber colour and a fruity scent. Together with the smooth and subtle sweet taste ensures this a wonderfully accomplished bouquet.

In line with the traditions of Brewery Van Steenberge Just like the other specialty beers of Brewery Van Steenberge is the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple a beer of high fermentation with secondary fermentation. A wine yeast is used for the secondary fermentation, which also contributes to the grandiose taste.

a nice quad - dry and yeasty with pulms, bread and other pit fruit, and a little alcohol shing through.

Il giusto equilibrio, una dolcezza appena accennata che non ha alcun eccesso floreale o fruttato e non risulta mai stucchevole. Gusto pieno, intenso, tipico delle birre di questa casa che io continuo a considerare una delle migliori belghe.

Amber. Rich malt, fruity notes and spicy phenols dominate this quadrupel. The taste is full and sweet, with a dry, lightly bitter and slightly alcoholic finish. Full body and prickly carbonation. Overall, a great quadrupel. Tastes more or less the same as the normal Gulden Draak. The sweetness in this one is a little more balanced.

Slightly hazy amber with a white creamy head. Plum, raisin, banana and a bit of spice. Sweet bit nicely balanced ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Só por ser uma quadrupel já se espera uma ótima cerveja. Tem aroma muito agradável, cor âmbar e sabor com um mix de amargor e um adocicado em seu final.

Pours copper with a foaming white lacing. Sweet raisins, cherries and apricots. Very nice finish, outstanding beer.

Pours dark golden/amber with a big frothy, lasting white head. The aroma contains malts, ripe fruits, some caramel, spices, grass, yeast and alcohol. It tastes medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter, with a long spicy finish and the typical Van Steenberge alcohol punch that burns your throat (in a good way). Full body, oily texture and a very fizzy carbonation. Good, but not as refined as its traditional brother.

Shared with Jed on the porch, thanks Julie. Malty, caramelly, boozy. Tons of Belgian yeast esters and phenols: overripe fruit, black pepper, clove, bubblegum, banana. Medium body, intensely fizzy carbonation, lingering sweetness which eventually dried out at the finish. A fairly tasty, true-to-style quad, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the original Gulden Draak.

330ml bottle. Rich carbonated amber, with a frothy pale gold head. Aromas of apple, raspberries, sweet granola, bread, and haylage. The flavour is similarly sweet and grainy, with honeyed bread and a touch of liquor burn on the aftertaste.

330ml bottle, best before 2017-07-10. Pour likely hazy and orange copper with a very frizzy white foam that leave my sight pretty fast. Aroma of caramel malt, brown sugar and yeast. Sugar, alcohol and tasty yeast share the stage for this wonderful quad. Medium to full body, oily and normal carbonation for the style. Nice long and enjoyable brown sugar finish.
